Abstract: A self-switching interposer (10) for connecting a mating connector, such as a connector on the end of a cable, to a connector interface, such as a multi-pin connection socket on an electronic computer, includes a housing (14, 16) first and second sets of terminals (20, 24) supported in the housing and a printed circuit board (28) for electrically connecting the first and second sets of terminals. The interposer further includes a switching system (42) for electrically connecting at least a group of the connected terminals to an electronic network when the housing is not mated to a mating connector. The switching system includes a mechanical actuator (56, 58, 64) for disconnecting the group of connected terminals from the electronic network when the housing is mated to a mating connector. As a result, the interposer will connect the connector interface to the network except when said interposer is mated with a mating connector.

Abstract: An electrical connector (10) includes a housing (20) and a plurality of terminals (22) secured within the housing for mounting a mating connector (16) or an electronic module or the like having a plurality of electronic leads disposed thereon to a printed substrate (12). Each of the terminals has a connecting base portion (24) that is mechanically connected to the printed substrate and a non-connecting base portion (26) that is not mechanically connected to the printed substrate, but rather freely contacts the printed substrate. A first contact beam (28) is cantilevered from the connecting base portion and has a distal end (30), while a second contact beam (32) is similarly cantilevered from the non-connecting base portion and also has a distal end (34) wherein a gap (36) is formed between the distal ends of the contact beams, for receiving leads of the mating connectors or the like inserted into the gap.

Abstract: Disclosed is a multi-row right angle connector (10) and a press block (12) for installing the connector on a mounting substrate without soldering the contact pins. The connector legs comprise ''eye of the needle'' compliant interfaces that make electrical contact with the interior surfaces of the substrate's plated through holes. The press block is designed for use with a four-row right angle receptacle and locates rows 2, 3, and 4 on respective true grid positions and serves as a means for transmitting force from an external press to the contact pin tails. The contact tails in rows 2, 3, and 4 have a T-shaped shoulder (10-7) that is pressed into a pocket in the press block. The insertion force is applied to the pins (10-8) in row 1 by a corner (12-4) having a radius matching the radius of the row 1 tails.

Abstract: A connector having a male part and a matching female part, both parts are provided with mating faces extending essentially parallel to the plug-in direction and moving along each other when these parts mate with each other. One connector part is provided with one or more radially projecting collars which are sawtooth-shaped in cross-section and extend over the entire periphery of the mating face. Abstract: A connector apparatus (10) for a memory card comprises a one-piece integrated metallic frame (12) having a cross member and a pair of guide rails (14, 16) integrally extending from the cross member (15). Mounting means in the form of narrow slots are integrally formed on at least one guide rail (14, 16) to allow the push rod (24) of an ejector mechanism to be mounted on the guide rail (14, 16).
