PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce set-up complexity in surround-sound systems. SOLUTION: A processing module may include a spatial processor for spatially processing surround-left and surround-right channel signals and front-left and front-right channel signals combining the spatially-processed signals for providing to drivers of center speaker after crosstalk cancellation and combining with a center-channel signal. In some embodiments, the processing module may include circuitry to cause the spatial processor to refrain from spatially processing either the front-left and front-right channel signals when front-left and/or front-right speakers are connected. A multimedia console incorporating an alphanumeric keyboard, and a musical key-bed is described for generating multimedia work product conveniently when coupled with a digital personal computer or optionally as a stand alone music equipment. The musical key-bed is detachably coupled with a protective cover for providing ergonomic support when, said musical key-bed is not being used.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for transmitting media data among a plurality of processing modules; and to provide a digital processing device for processing media data. SOLUTION: This digital processing device is used for processing media data. The device includes a plurality of processing modules for processing the media data, and a media data path. The media data path communicates the media data between the processing modules, and the media data path is arranged in a ring configuration. In one embodiment, the media data path defines a digital audio bus for serially interconnecting the plurality of processing modules. The digital audio bus can communicate digital audio data in a plurality of time slots, and each particular processing module has an associated time slot from which data are received from the data path for processing by the particular processing module.
