    Abstract: A cycle saddle assembly includes a stem unit having a saddle stem. A pneumatic suspension member is supported by the stem unit. A saddle seat is supported at least in part by the pneumatic suspension member for movement relative to the saddle stem. Whereby the shock omnidirectionally transmitting from the rider and the frame of the bicycle during riding will be absorbed by such a cycle saddle assembly.

    Abstract: 834,366. Supplying fuel; carburetters. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd., and CHITTY, D. B. Jan. 20, 1958, No. 1841/58. Class 7(3) Apparatus for supplying liquid initially at a high rate of flow, thereafter at a low rate of flow and at constant level, suitable for use as fuel supply apparatus for internal-combustion test engines, comprises 'an upper reservoir 3 having a valve 2 at high level therein connecting to a primary reservoir 1, the upper. reservoir serving to discharge, by means of an orifice, into an enclosed container 4 'capable of storing liquid to a level above the level of the orifice and having a gas control valve 5 actuated above this upper level, the container having an outlet below the level of the orifice. The apparatus is adjustably mounted on a support and the vertical position may be adjusted by screw 21. The carburetter fuel bowl is indicated at 11. There may be a plurality of feed devices and a fuel manifold connecting them through isolating valves to a common feed line. A jet 12 is threaded into the base 22 of the sight glass 13 to isolate the sight glass and provide feed to the carburetter 8 from the device 9. A pointer 19 connected to the back board 10 provides an indication of the position of the device 9. Cock 24 provides for the switching from one fuel supply line to another whereby the engine may be run on reference fuel or on sample fuel from the unit 9.

Sharpening.-In a skate-sharpener comprising an abrading-cylinder 7 mounted in a cylindrical casing 1 provided with a longitudinal slot having guide flanges 2, one each side, between which the skate blade is inserted, the cylinder 7 is supported by removable caps 3, 4, so as to allow the cylinder to be rotated when its surface is worn. One cap has a circular and the other an angular orifice, shaped to fit the ends 8, 9 of the axis of the cylinder; the cap 4 thus locks the cylinder in position, and can be removed to allow the spindle to be rotated.

    Abstract: A gear change mechanism for use with a gearbox input shaft, the gear change mechanism comprising cam means 1 having a radial track 3 and a peripheral track (5, fig 2), with a first cam follower 17 adapted to interconnect the radial track 3 and the gearbox input shaft 11 to transmit one of the required rotational or translational movement in response to the rotation of the cam means 1, and a second cam follower 27 adapted to interconnect the peripheral track (5, fig 2) and the gearbox input shaft 11 to transmit the other of the required rotational or translational movement in response to the rotation of the cam means 1. The gear change mechanism is capable of providing a sequential or semi-automatic change mechanism for a conventional gearbox.

    Abstract: A gear engagement assembly comprises a selector hub, Fig 4, a driving gear, Fig 2, first and second primary gear engagement means (4) and (13) respectively, and secondary gear engagement means (5). In operation, the selector hub and the driving gear are engaged with each other by moving the selector hub and the driving gear towards each other so that in a first gear engagement stage the first and second primary gear engagement means (4, 13) engage with each other and so that on further movement of the members towards each other in a second gear engagement stage the primary gear engagement means of one of the selector hub and the driving gear engages between the primary gear engagement means and the secondary gear engagement means of the other of the selector hub and the driving gear. The selector hub may include short dogs 14 forming secondary gear engagement means. In a modification, (Figures 58) lands between recesses comprise first primary engagement means and the bottoms of arcuate grooves comprise secondary gear engagement means. Dogs (29) on the selector hub comprise second primary gear engagement means.
