Abstract:
Polyolefin pipes are in use since few decades in numerous applications. Polyolefins have numerous advantages vis-à-vis its competing polymer material the PVC. However PVC still continue to be the most preferred pipe making polymer all over the world. One of the main reasons which hinder growth of polyolefins in pipe applications is difficulty in joining/bonding of polyolefin pipes. To overcome this shortcoming of polyolefin pipes and pipe-fittings, we have devised a polyolefin pipe and pipe-fitting system which can be easily, economically and satisfactorily joined / bonded like PVC pipes and pipe-fittings. The scheme is to coextrude polyolefin pipe and coinjection mould polyolefin pipe- fitting in multilayers, where the outermost layer of pipe and innermost layer of pipe-fitting shall be made of material which is amenable (suitable) to solvent welding/bonding and/or adhesive bonding. And when solvent is applied to the outer surface of pipe and inner surface of pipe-fitting, the two surfaces shall become pliable and on mating, the surface shall weld / fuse/bond, thus bonding pipe to the pipe-fitting. Similarly pipe and pipe-fitting can be adhesive bonded.

Abstract:
A device for treatment of exhaust gases includes a housing, a fragile structure resiliently mounted within the housing, and a non-intumescent mounting mat disposed in a gap between the housing and the fragile structure. The mounting mat includes a plurality of inorganic fibers that have undergone a surface treatment to increase the holding force performance of the mounting mat. Also disclosed are methods of making a mounting mat for an exhaust gas treatment device and for making an exhaust gas treatment device incorporating the mounting mat.
Abstract:
Modeling hydrocarbon flow from layered shale formations. At least some of the illustrative embodiments are methods including: modeling movement of hydrocarbons through kerogen-related porosity, the movement through a first model volume; estimating a first permeability of a kerogen-rich layer of a layered shale formation based on the modeling; and modeling hydrocarbon production from the layered shale formation. The modeling hydrocarbon production may include: utilizing the first permeability for the kerogen-rich layer of the layered shale formation; and utilizing a second permeability for a kerogen-poor layer of the layered shale formation, the second permeability different than the first permeability. In various cases the modeling of hydrocarbon production is with respect to a second model volume greater than the first model volume.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, the present invention includes a method for identifying a memory request corresponding to a load instruction as a critical transaction if an instruction pointer of the load instruction is present in a critical instruction table associated with a processor core, sending the memory request to a system agent of the processor with a critical indicator to identify the memory request as a critical transaction, and prioritizing the memory request ahead of other pending transactions responsive to the critical indicator. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to protecting against, treating, and detecting Fusobacteria infections. Compositions and methods derived from nucleic acid and protein sequences of a 40 kDa Adhesin protein are provided to protect against, treat, and detect Fusobacteria infections in a subject. In one aspect, vaccines capable of inducing an immune response to a 40 kDa Adhesin protein are used to protect against Fusobacteria infection. Also, nucleic acid molecules, proteins, immunogens, antibodies, and antisense molecules derived from the sequences of the 40 kDa Adhesin protein may be used to protect against, treat, and detect Fusobacteria infections in a subject.
Abstract:
A mounting mat for mounting a catalyst support structure within a housing in an exhaust gas treatment device. The mounting mat includes a layer of high silica content fibers and a layer of polycrystalline and/or high alumina inorganic fibers. The exhaust gas treatment device includes an outer housing, a fragile catalyst, and a mounting mat disposed in the gap between the housing and the fragile catalyst support structure. Additionally disclosed are methods of making the mounting mat and for making an exhaust gas treatment device incorporating the mounting mat.
Abstract:
An insulating mat (20) for an exhaust gas treatment device (10) thermally stable to at least 900°C, wherein the insulating mat contains inorganic fibers uniformly coated with a metal oxide including at least one of aluminum oxide, titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, or mixtures thereof; wherein said fibers are uniformly coated with the metal oxide by precipitating metal hydroxide corresponding to the metal oxide on the fibers, followed by converting the precipitated metal hydroxide to the metal oxide. A method of increasing the thermal stability of inorganic fibers for use in an exhaust gas treatment device insulating mat including the inorganic fibers, including uniformly coating the fibers with a metal oxide of at least one of aluminum oxide, titanium oxide, zirconium oxide or mixtures thereof by a chemical precipitation process.
