Additionally, the content protection data processing system and the playback device switch a procedure relating to a digital signature for each signature type of the digital signature, which enables both the protection of the copyright of the content and the efficient manufacturing of commercial ROM media.

The content copy system includes: a content usage apparatus comprising an acquisition unit that acquires usage ID provided thereto in exchange for the usage fee for content, a transmission unit that transmits the acquired usage ID to the management server, and a usage unit that receives a decryption key from the management server and records the decryption key and encrypted content on a recording medium; and a management server comprising a storage unit storing usage IDs and decryption keys in one-to-one correspondence, and a control unit that, when receiving usage ID from the content usage apparatus, transmits a decryption key for content corresponding to the usage ID and performs settlement processing for the usage ID.

The identifier is sent when a communication is performed between the two machines, as well as when the license information is updated. Therefore, when a message for transferring the license information is received by the use of the same identifier, a response message is returned without updating the license information.

The power output apparatus also resets an engine power demand Pe* to make a rotation speed Ne of an engine approximately equal to a target rotation speed Ne* (steps S230 and S270). This arrangement ensures a smooth gearshift of the transmission.

If playback devices are prohibited from playing back contents recorded in R media, there occurs a problem that it takes more time to manufacture commercial ROM media. Conversely, if playback devices are permitted to play back contents recorded in R media, there occurs a problem that copyrights might be infringed. In view of these, the aim of the present invention is to provide a content protection data processing system and a playback device capable of determining whether to permit playback of a content recorded in a recording medium, based on a medium type of the recording medium and a signature type of a signature attached to a program, and switching a procedure relating to a digital signature for each signature type of the digital signature.
