Abstract:
An exhaust control valve (24) for two-stroke cycle engines is disclosed. This valve is within the exhaust passage (20), seals against the piston, and delays opening of the exhaust passage (20) to the combustion chamber (14) during the expansion stroke of the piston for a preselected number of degrees of rotation of the crankshaft while permitting full opening of the exhaust port (19) during the scavenging cycle. Also disclosed are means for modifying opening of the exhaust valve at high engine speeds to improve scavenging.
Abstract:
A rotary exhaust control valve (38) for two-stroke cycle engines is disclosed. This valve (38) is oriented at least partially within the exhaust passage (30) and, for each revolution of the engine, delays flow from the combustion chamber (18) through the exhaust passage (30) during the expansion stroke of the piston while permitting full opening of the exhaust passage (30) and blow down to initiate the scavenging cycle of the engine. The valve (38) of the present invention permits complete opening and closing of the exhaust passage (30) during the appropriate portions to the engine cycle. Also disclosed is a mechanical linkage mechanism (72, 74) between the rotary valve (38) and the crankshaft to provide precise control of the exhaust valve throughout the engine cycle.
Abstract:
A sliding exhaust control valve (40) for two-stroke cycle engines is disclosed. This valve (40) actuates at least partially through the exhaust passage (30) and delays flow from the combustion chamber (18) through the exhaust passage (30) during the expansion stroke of the piston while permitting full opening of the exhaust passage (30) and giving complete blow down before the scavenging cycle of the engine. Also disclosed is a mechanical linkage mecanism between the slide valve (40) and the crankshaft (62) and cam controlled actuation means (52, 54, 56) to provide precise control of the exhaust valve (40) throughout the engine cycle.
Abstract:
A two-cycle crankcase compression internal combustion engine having extended and specially positioned intake porting and reedtype intake valves, with the porting and valves arranged to improve various of the operating characteristics of the engine.
Abstract:
The adjustable foot peg allows a rider to adjust the position of the foot peg in two ways. First, the bracket to which the foot peg attaches preferably includes a series of holes, about which the foot peg apparatus will rotate. Second, the foot peg is placed at the end of a rotating member, the rotating member able to be fixed at one of multiple possible angular positions.

Abstract:
A carpet trim cutter having a blade holder which is adjustably mountable to the body of the carpet trim cutter such that a cutting blade carried by the blade holder may be selectively positioned to control the depth of cut by the cutting blade. Means are provided for selectively positioning the blade holder on the body of the carpet trim cutter including means for releasably attaching both the blade cutter and the blade to the carpet trim cutter. The carpet trim cutter is of an integral construction fabricated from a plastic material.
Abstract:
A tackless carpet stripping for attaching carpet or the like to a floor in a room wherein the stripping is fastened to the floor along the peripherial edge of the floor adjacent the walls of the room. The tackless carpet stripping is a one-piece integrally molded structure having an elongated member with its lower surface positioned on the floor and fastened thereto by means of nails or the like. The upper surface of the elongated member has a plurality of integral sharp-ending holding members projecting toward the wall at an angle inclined with respect to the upper surface of the elongated member. In the preferred embodiment the stripping is fabricated from a plastic material, such as polystyrene.
Abstract:
A system for recovering electrical energy and water from exhaust gasses. The system includes a thermoelectric generator to produce electricity from the waste heat of the exhaust gasses of internal combustion engines and the like. The exhaust is cooled by the thermoelectric generator, air cycle machine and other heat absorbing devise which, through work, reduce the exhaust gas temperature and promote condensation of the water.
