Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for inserting data a compressed data bitstream are disclosed. The methods and apparatus time shift first data in a first portion of the compressed data bitstream to increase a size of a second portion of the compressed data bitstream and insert second data in the second portion of the compressed data bitstream to form a modified compressed data bitstream.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to collect audience information associated with a media presentation are described herein. A disclosed system includes a base metering device (20) and at least one portable metering device (22). The base metering device (20) is disposed within a viewing area of one of a plurality of media presentation devices. Further, the base metering device (20) is configured to emit a signal. The at least one portable metering device (22) is configured to receive the signal when located within the viewing area and to collect viewing data reflecting viewing of any of the plurality of media presentation devices by at least one viewer. Accordingly, the at least one portable metering device (22) uses the signal to identify all or a subset of the viewing data as being associated with viewing of the one of the plurality of media presentation devices depending on whether the signal is received.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture to monitor streaming media content are disclosed. An example method disclosed herein to monitor streaming media content comprises extracting metering data having a first format from media content to be provided to a content presentation device via a transport stream, the extracted metering data identifying at least one of the media content or a source of the media content, the extracted metering data not being decodable by a meter associated with the content presentation device, transcoding the extracted metering data to form transcoded metering data having a second format decodable by the meter associated with the content presentation device, and encoding the transcoded metering data into a metadata channel to send the transcoded metering data to the content presentation device, the metadata channel being associated with the transport stream.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to alkoxyamine fuctionalized polysulfones, a process for the functionalization of polysulfones with nitroxide initiators and subsequent nitroxide-mediated radical polymerizations to yield polysulfone-graft-copolymers, e.g polysulfone-graft-poly-4- vinylbenzylchloride copolymer. Further aspects of the invention are the polysulfone-graft- copoolymers itself and the use of such polysulfone-graft-copolymers as membranes.
Abstract:
Example methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture to collect metering information associated with media presented by portable and computer media presentation devices are disclosed. A disclosed example method accesses a first data structure including metering information generated by at least one of first media presentation software executed by a personal computer or second media presentation software executed by a portable media presentation device. The metering information is associated with media presented by at least one of the first or second media presentation software. At least some of the metering information is then extracted from the first data structure and stored in a second data structure. The at least some of the metering information is then communicated from the second data structure to a data collection facility.
Abstract:
The invention relates generally to polyvalent macromolecules comprising: (a) a polymer backbone and (b) pendent groups attached to said polymer backbone, wherein some or all of said pendent groups comprise: (i) optionally a linker, (ii) a surface-seeking group, which is capable of binding strongly to a metal surface, (iii) optionally a chromophore, which is detectable by at least one spectroscopic method. Such molecules can modify metal surfaces and have a variety of uses including (without limitation) appending chromophores to metal surfaces without the need to establish complex chemistry; for the stabilisation and labelling of metal nanoparticles; and for preparing and aggregating nanoparticles in a controlled fashion.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to meter content exposure using closed caption information are disclosed. An example method comprises developing a keyword database of terms based on program guide descriptive of programs for a given time period, generating one or more values representative of likelihoods that one or more respective media content was presented based on a comparison of closed caption text and the keyword database, collecting audience measurement data, and employing the one or more likelihood values to identify a set of reference data for comparison to the audience measurement data to identify presented content.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for detecting on-screen media sources are disclosed. An example method includes monitoring a region of interest of a video signal for a first image, comparing the first image to a stored image, and confirming the media device change when the stored image differs from the first image and is associated with a secondary criterion.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for monitoring locally inserted media content are disclosed. A disclosed method includes obtaining identification data and inserting the identification data in the media content after the media content has been received at a media consumption location. Another disclosed method includes receiving media content before the media content is output by a consumer receiving device and monitoring the received media content. Monitoring the received media content may include extracting signatures from the received media content and transmitting the extracted signatures to another location.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to determine audience viewing of video-on-demand programs are disclosed (Fig. 3). An example method disclosed herein comprises creating a reference database 304, 324 corresponding to a set of VOD programs, determining 320 whether a VOD program is selected at a subscriber site, extracting at least one identifier from a signal carrying the VOD program, and cross-referencing 328 the at least one identifier with the reference database.
