Abstract: A method for preventing edge bonding between adjacently situated floorboards of a floor system involves the application of a release agent along at least one longitudinal side surface of the floorboards. The release agent counteracts, or neutralizes, the adhesive effects between adjacently situate d floorboards which is commonly caused by urethane or water bourne finish coatings, when the finish coating seeps downwardly between the side surfaces of the floorboards. By eliminating surface bonding between adjacently situated floorboards, this invention eliminates panelization of the floor system. The release agent may be a liquid or a solid and may be applied by any one of a number o f methods, either at the factory or at the job site. The release agent may be applied to both longitudinal side surfaces of the floorboards, and also to the ends and the bottoms of the floorboards.

Abstract: An inflatable gripper assembly for a rock boring or cutting machine is disclosed. The inflatable gripper assembly comprises a base member (42) and an elastomeric sheet (40) secured in a fluid-tight and reaction force secure manner to the base member. The elastomeric sheet expands when fluid is supplied between the base member and the elastomeric sheet to brace a rock boring or cutting machine in a tunnel. The elastomeric sheet contracts when fluid is removed from between the base member and the elastomeric sheet to allow the rock boring or cutting machine to move within the tunnel.

Abstract: A drill pipe has a central axis and comprises a first end and a second end with a portion of the second end being substantially triangular in the lateral cross-section and having three faces. At least one concave wrench recess is located in each of the three faces of the substantially triangular portion of the second end. Each of the recesses has a surface with an axially extending center line. The center line is located a predetermined distance from the central axis, with this predetermined distance being less than or equal to the distance from the central axis of all other axial lines on the surface of the recess. Each of the recesses may be comprised of two adjoining planes having exterior surfaces, the cross-section of the two adjoining planes forming an angle of less than 180 degrees as measured from the exterior surfaces of the two adjoining planes. Alternatively, the recesses can be comprised of three adjoining planes. Finally, the recesses may be comprised of an arcuate segment.

Abstract: A parasiticidal ointment is obtained by the admixture of a pyrethrum preparation sufficiently low in objectionable resins to be relatively non-irritating to the skin, a carrier for said preparation, an agent inhibiting allergic effects consisting of an apiol, and an emulsifying agent which with the carrier forms an ointment base which can be readily removed by washing. The pyrethrum preparation is preferably the oleoresin which is the residual product obtained by a cold selective extraction of pyrethrum flowers with a petroleum hydrocarbon. The carrier is preferably white petrolatum with or without a small quantity of mineral oil No. 10 U.S.P.XI. The emulsifying agent is preferably sulphonated hydrogenated castor oil. The apiol may be the dimethyl methylene ether of allyl tetroxybenzene (crystalline apiol) or the oleoresin of parsley fruit (liquid apiol).

Abstract: A dentifrice comprises an oxygen supplying component consisting of a peroxide, percarbonate, perborate of an alkali or alkaline earth metal, or a complex compound containing hydrogen peroxide and a salt of an alkali or an alkaline earth metal; boric acid and a solid straight chain hexahydric alcohol. The preferred alcohol is mannitol. In cases where sodium perborate is used in the presence of the boric acid, it is necessary to use the monohydrate. The hexahydric alcohol is used in sufficient amounts to combine with the boric acid in the presence of the water present during the use of the dentifrice to form a reagent of substantially greater acidity than the boric acid. The boric acid and the alcohol are present in the proportions necessary to produce a predetermined alkalinity, which should lie between pH 7.5 and 9.

Abstract: A portable hardwood floor system of interconnected floor sections supported in spaced relation over a substrate includes a plurality of mounts attached to the bottoms of each of the interconnectable sections. Each mount includes a resilient pad to resiliently support the portable floor system above the base and a glide member located below the pad. The glide members are substantially noncompressible under normal floor loading conditions and have a relatively low coefficient of friction with respect to the base. The glide members are slidable on the base to enhance maneuverability in positioning and aligning the interconnectable floor sections, thereby to facilitate interconnection of the sections to form the floor system. The glide members also protect the portable floor section and/or the base and are also sufficiently durable to withstand frequent handling commonly required of a portable hardwood floor system.

Abstract: A wood floor system comprises a plurality of parallel rows of floorboards laid end-to-end, and each of the floorboards includes a compression nub extending along a side surface thereof, adjacent the top surface. These compression nubs affirmatively engage an opposing side surface of an adjacent floorboard row, thereby sealing, or isolating, the top surface of the floor from the side surfaces of the floorboard rows. This uniformly distributes expansion and contraction forces throughout the floor, due to uniform spacing between the floorboard rows. The isolation of the upper floorboard surface from the side surface also prevents undesired downward migration or flow of liquid finishing solution, which can have serious adverse affects for a wood floor. The invention reduces the total volume of finishing solution necessary for finishing the floor, and it also reduces "overwood" during floor installation.
