Abstract: A suspension system for a train vehicle comprises at least one inerter in order to minimise track wear. Track wear may be measured by direct measures such as wear work, or indirect measures such as yaw stiffness. 'Minimising' track wear means that such measures are reduced below values which are achievable with conventional technology while maintaining acceptable values of other performance metrics, such as ride comfort or least damping ratio. The suspension system may comprise at least one damper connected in series with the at least one inerter. The suspension system may be the primary or the secondary suspension system of a train vehicle.

Abstract: Particle collector apparatus are used to separate particles from an entrained gas. Typically, flow is effected by means of applying a vacuum at one end, where the vacuum is produced by means of a mechanical, reciprocating piston, type vacuum generator. The present invention provides a particle collector apparatus (10), for use in testing medical devices which emit particulates, such as inhalers, comprising a collection vessel (210) having an inlet (230), for connection with the device to be tested, and an outlet (240), and a first vacuum generating unit (10) connected to the outlet, wherein the first vacuum generating unit is powered by of a first vacuum-forming fluid to produce a first at least partial vacuum thereby inducing a flow of a first sample fluid in a first direction through the collection vessel (210) from the inlet to the outlet, wherein the collection vessel is an impactor or an impinger.

Abstract: System and method for performing program-related operations over a network via a web browser. A network connection is established between a server computer and a client computer over a network. A universal resource identifier (URI) is sent from the client computer to the server computer over the network, where the URI indicates a program, e.g. , a graphical program (GP), or at least a portion of a graphical program interactive development environment (GPIDE), e.g. , a graphical program editor, an execution engine, a static or dynamic analyzer, and/or compiler. The at least a portion of the GPIDE is received from the server computer over the network in response to the URI, and executed in a web browser of the client computer to perform some specified functionality with respect to the GP.

Abstract: Decondensation of DNA is accomplished by treating DNA-containing cells with a thiol and, simultaneously or subsequently, with anionic surfactant wherein the cells are exposed to the thiol for less than 20 minutes. The cells are preferably sperm cells and the method is particularly useful in livestock sperm such as bovine sperm. Sperm cells may be subjected to fluorescent in situ hybridisation after decondensation. The invention also provides kits comprising thiol and anionic surfactant and treatment instructions. The methods and kits are useful in assessing the efficiency of sperm sorting procedures.
