Abstract:
A suspension system for a train vehicle comprises at least one inerter in order to minimise track wear. Track wear may be measured by direct measures such as wear work, or indirect measures such as yaw stiffness. 'Minimising' track wear means that such measures are reduced below values which are achievable with conventional technology while maintaining acceptable values of other performance metrics, such as ride comfort or least damping ratio. The suspension system may comprise at least one damper connected in series with the at least one inerter. The suspension system may be the primary or the secondary suspension system of a train vehicle.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for performing and verifying transactions involving authentication with a secure credential, such as a smart card, in an untrusted or semi-trusted environment. An application module, operating in an untrusted or semi-trusted environment can be denied access to sensitive data. The application module can determine a preliminary command to be sent to the credential and transmit the preliminary command to a broker module. The broker module, operating in a trusted environment, can supply sensitive data and transmit the command to the credential. Subsequently, the broker module can extract sensitive data from a response before it is transmitted to the application module. A verification server can audit the transaction to verify that it was carried out properly.
Abstract:
Particle collector apparatus are used to separate particles from an entrained gas. Typically, flow is effected by means of applying a vacuum at one end, where the vacuum is produced by means of a mechanical, reciprocating piston, type vacuum generator. The present invention provides a particle collector apparatus (10), for use in testing medical devices which emit particulates, such as inhalers, comprising a collection vessel (210) having an inlet (230), for connection with the device to be tested, and an outlet (240), and a first vacuum generating unit (10) connected to the outlet, wherein the first vacuum generating unit is powered by of a first vacuum-forming fluid to produce a first at least partial vacuum thereby inducing a flow of a first sample fluid in a first direction through the collection vessel (210) from the inlet to the outlet, wherein the collection vessel is an impactor or an impinger.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for stimulating a wellbore. A coil tubing bottom hole assembly is disclosed which includes a jetting tool. A non-caged ball sub is coupled to the jetting tool and a ported sub is coupled to the non-caged ball sub. Additionally, a caged ball sub is coupled to the ported sub.
Abstract:
A device for use in the control of mechanical forces is provided. The device comprises first and second terminals for connection, in use, to components in a system for controlling mechanical forces and independently moveable. The device further comprises hydraulic means connected between the terminals and containing a liquid. The hydraulic means are configured, in use, to produce upon relative movement of the terminals, a liquid flow to generate an inertial force due to the mass of the liquid to control the mechanical forces at the terminals such that they are substantially proportional to the relative acceleration between the terminals. Hydraulic cylinder with external and for internal helical fluid path (5,16)
Abstract:
System and method for performing program-related operations over a network via a web browser. A network connection is established between a server computer and a client computer over a network. A universal resource identifier (URI) is sent from the client computer to the server computer over the network, where the URI indicates a program, e.g. , a graphical program (GP), or at least a portion of a graphical program interactive development environment (GPIDE), e.g. , a graphical program editor, an execution engine, a static or dynamic analyzer, and/or compiler. The at least a portion of the GPIDE is received from the server computer over the network in response to the URI, and executed in a web browser of the client computer to perform some specified functionality with respect to the GP.

Abstract:
A method of servicing a wellbore comprising inserting a first tubing member having a flowbore into the wellbore, wherein a manipulatable fracturing tool, or a component thereof, is coupled to the first tubing member and wherein the manipulatable fracturing tool comprises one or more ports configured to alter a flow of fluid through the manipulatable fracturing tool, positioning the manipulatable fracturing tool proximate to a formation zone to be fractured, manipulating the manipulatable fracturing tool to establish fluid communication between the flowbore of the first tubing member and the wellbore, introducing a first component of a composite fluid into the wellbore via the flowbore of the first tubing member, introducing a second component of the composite fluid into the wellbore via an annular space formed by the first tubing member and the wellbore, mixing the first component of the composite fluid with the second component of the composite fluid within the wellbore, and causing a fracture to form or be extended within the formation zone.
Abstract:
A method for compressing data is provided that includes accumulating a plurality of bits associated with a communications flow and determining whether one or more of the bits correspond to a silence signal associated with a time division multiplexed (TDM) circuit that facilitates propagation of the flow. A predefined silence pattern may be communicated, in place of one or more of the bits, to a next destination when it is determined that one or more of the bits correspond to the silence signal.
Abstract:
Decondensation of DNA is accomplished by treating DNA-containing cells with a thiol and, simultaneously or subsequently, with anionic surfactant wherein the cells are exposed to the thiol for less than 20 minutes. The cells are preferably sperm cells and the method is particularly useful in livestock sperm such as bovine sperm. Sperm cells may be subjected to fluorescent in situ hybridisation after decondensation. The invention also provides kits comprising thiol and anionic surfactant and treatment instructions. The methods and kits are useful in assessing the efficiency of sperm sorting procedures.
