Abstract:
Methyl-tert-alkyl ethers coming from a synthesis section are separated from unreacted hydrocarbons by means of a rectification operation, in which the unreacted hydrocarbons are drawn as overhead fraction, in the form of an azeotropic mixture with methanol. To the purpose of removing methanol, and of therefore allowing a suitable use of said unreacted hydrocarbons, the azeotropic mixture is washed with water inside a washing column, which gets very rapidly corroded. The invention solves the corrosion problem by resorting to the removal of oxygen from the hydrocarbon charge and/or of methanol, before these are sent to the synthesis.

Extenders for gasoil for automotive use, and method for their preparation. The gasoil extenders are selected from the class of methane dioxygenated derivatives, of general formula (I), wherein R1 and R2, equal to or different from each other, are straight or branched alkyl groups, having from 1 to 20, preferably from 2 to 10, carbon atoms, or alkoxyalkyl groups of formula R1-(O-R)x-, wherein R is an alkyl group containing from 2 to 6 carbon atoms, and R1 is an alkyl group containing from 1 to 20, preferably from 2 to 10, carbon atoms, x being comprised within the range of from 1 to 10. The preparation of gasoil extenders takes place by means of the reaction of an alcohol or of a mixture of alcohols with formaldehyde in the presence of an acidic catalyst, homogeneous or heterogeneous in the reaction medium.

Zeolites having a pore diameter comprised within the range of from 5 to 12 ANGSTROM are bonded with amorphous oligomeric silica, by dispersing them in an aqueous solution of silica and alkylammonium hydroxide, and submitting the obtained suspension to a quick drying.

Improved apparatus for distributing a liquid in film form in the interior of vertical tubes in which a counterflow or cocurrent flow of liquid-vapor takes place. The apparatus includes a cylindrical body having an annular ledge and helical grooves on its peripheral surface, and wherein the cylindrical body is slightly tapered downwardly and inwardly to enable it to be easily introduced into the tube and to enable it to be freely rotated about its own vertical central axis. In the case of counterflow circulation, the cylindrical body has a blind laterally perforated vent tube on its top surface. In each instance the rotation of the body is effected by the liquid being distributed to inhibit the formation of deposits of solids from the liquid being distributed on the inner wall of the vertical tube.
