Abstract:
A thermoplastic bag includes raised rib-like elements that that allow the thermoplastic bag to expand. The thermoplastic bag further includes side seals having rib like elements that allow the side seals to expand. Additionally, in one or more implementations, the thermoplastic bag includes one or more of a material formulation, a density of raised rib-like elements, a height of raised rib-like elements, or land areas that provide the raised rib-like elements with a reduced rebound ratio.
Abstract:
In one example embodiment, a laminated film includes an extruded ribbed first film portion that includes multiple ribs, where consecutive ribs are separated by webs that are integral with the ribs. The laminated film also includes an un-ribbed second film portion, and a region of discontinuous lamination between the first film portion and the second film portion. The region of discontinuous lamination includes multiple regions where the first and second film portions are bonded together, and multiple regions where the first and second film portions are not bonded together.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to strata 2-ply drawstring trash bags implementing a J- flap extended hem to provide increased top-of-bag strength. In one or more embodiments, the J-flap extended hem includes a 2-ply web folded back on itself (e.g., during a hem folding operation to enclose the drawstring within a hem channel). In one or more implementations, a hem seal secures the 2-ply web to an inside surface of the trash bag. At least one ply of the 2- ply web fold-over extends past the hem seal and is additionally secured to the inside surface of the trash bag via one or more hem skirt seals. For reduced material consumption in certain embodiments, the J-flap extended hem of the present disclosure imparts added strength using only one ply of the 2-ply web fold-over. In some embodiments, at least one ply of the 2-ply web fold-over includes ring-rolled portions to add top-of-bag strength.
Abstract:
Thermoplastic films and bags include gradient patterns of post-formation deformations. The gradient patterns of post-formation deformations can provide a connotation of strength. Additionally, the gradient pattern of post-formation deformations can provide different areas of the films or bags with different physical characteristics such as tear resistance, puncture resistance, elasticity, etc.
Abstract:
One or more implementations of a multi-film thermoplastic structure include a first film having a first appearance in contact with a second film having a second appearance at one or more visually-distinct contact areas. Wherein the one or more visually-distinct contact areas, cause the first film to take on the second appearance of the second film. The visually- distinct contact areas being of a uniform gauge and configured to separate before either of the first film or the second film fails when subjected to peel forces.
Abstract:
Thermoplastic bags include laminates with bonded protrusions. More specifically, one or more implementations include a first thermoplastic film with a plurality of raised rib-like elements extending in a direction perpendicular to a main surface of the first thermoplastic film and second thermoplastic film bonded to the protrusions (e.g., raised rib-like elements or troughs between the raised rib-like elements) of the first thermoplastic film. By bonding a second thermoplastic film to the protrusions of the first thermoplastic film, the resulting laminate has an increased effective gauge or loft. In one or more implementations the second thermoplastic film is a flat film. In alternative implementations, the second thermoplastic film comprises a plurality of raised rib-like elements extending in a direction perpendicular to a main surface of the second thermoplastic film and protrusions of the first thermoplastic film are bonded to protrusions of the second thermoplastic film.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a thermoplastic film that includes a layer of thermoplastic material and an encapsulated odor control component. The encapsulated odor control component can include an odor-control active encapsulated within an odor-control encapsulant. Additionally, the encapsulated odor control component can be configured to release the odor-control active from the encapsulant when exposed to malodor particles. The thermoplastic film can further include a color indicator that changes color to indicate performance of the encapsulated odor control component. For example, the color indicator can change from a first color to a second color based, at least in part, on the release of the odor-control active.
Abstract:
Methods for forming a stock roll including a folded film within another folded film include combining the films and winding them into the stock roll. In particular, one or more implementations of a method of forming a stock roll involve combining films on an extrusion tower. Thus, implementations of the present invention can greatly reduce costs and space requirements, while allowing a single stock roll to feed a bag-making machine in order to produce bag-in-bag structures. One or more implementations further include stock rolls including a first folded film within another folded film.
