    Abstract: A pipe coupling (20) includes a retainer (9) having spring fingers (36) that extend inwardly of the inner periphery of the coupling (20), and which are cammed outwardly by a pipe (24) when inserted into the coupling (20), the spring fingers (9) then returning to their original position under the stored spring force for them to snap into a groove (38) in the pipe (24) exterior, and thus provide a positive stop preventing withdrawal of the pipe (24) axially of the coupling (20).

    Abstract: An anchor assembly for riser pipes uses a plate and sleeve to support a stub pipe which penetrates a floor of a structure, such as a building, in which the riser is located. Studs extending from the plate and the sleeve engage the floor and enhance the local structural strength of the floor. A bracket which engages the plate is used to mount the stub pipe within the sleeve. The riser pipe elements are attached to the ends of the stub pipe. Fire insulation material is positioned between the stub pipe and the sleeve.

    Abstract: A sprinkler with flexible body for fire suppression incudes a sprinkler head. An adapter extends from the sprinkler head and a flexible conduit extends from the adapter. The conduit is connectable to a source of fire suppressing liquid. The sprinkler with flexible body has a composite K factor indicative of the discharge flow rate from a discharge opening defined by the sprinkler head and can be directly substituted for a sprinkler having the same K factor with no change in the hydraulic characteristics of the fire suppression system in which the sprinkler with flexible body is integrated. An embodiment without the adapter, wherein the flexible conduit extends from the sprinkler head, is also feasible.

    Abstract: A device for forming circumferential grooves in pipe elements uses multiple geared cam bodies mounted on a carriage which rotates about a fixed pinion. The gears engage with the pinion which causes the geared cam bodies to rotate relative to the carriage. Traction surfaces and cam surfaces on the cam bodies traverse the outer surface of the pipe element and impress a circumferential groove therein. To substantially prevent rotation of the pipe element the pitch circle diameter of the pinion equals the outer diameter of the pipe element and the pitch circle diameters of the traction surfaces equal the pitch circle diameters of the gears.

    Abstract: A device for cold working pipe elements has two or more cams, each having a gear which meshes with a pinion to turn all of the cams. Each cam has a cam surface with a region of increasing radius and may have a region of constant radius extending around a cam body. Each cam also has a traction surface extending around a cam body. A discontinuity in each cam surface is aligned with a gap in the traction surface of each cam. The discontinuities and gaps provide clearance for insertion and removal of the pipe element between the cams to form a circumferential groove when the cams are rotated.

    Abstract: An adapter for joining a sprinkler to a pipe element has a body with outer flat surfaces and grooves that receive seals. A plug for sealing a pipe element has a cylindrical body with a circumferential groove which receives seals. Both the adapter and the plug fit within the pipe element and are secured and sealed by a deformation formed in the pipe element by a circumferential groove. The deformation mechanically engages the grooves in the body of the adapter and the plug.
