Abstract: A method for processing an end surface configuration of an optical fiber for establishing an efficient connection between an optical fiber and an optical element, a mold suited to such processing and an optical fiber whose end surface is processed by using the method and mold. The method comprises the steps of heating and fusing an end surface of an optical fiber, fitting it into a lens-shaped mold under pressure and transferring the mold configuration to the end surface of the optical fiber so as to form a predetermined configuration on the end surface of the optical fiber. The mold is suitable for such processing and the optical fiber has an end surface which is processed by using the method and mold. Thus, in accordance with the method, since a predetermined configuration can be formed on an end surface of the optical fiber in one process, through the above heating/fusing, pressure-fitting and transferring steps it is possible not only to prevent the increase of the costs of final products but also to process a plurality of optical fibers at the same time.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find that a battery is spent at a glance, so that it can be easily disposed without being included with a usable battery, eliminate the erroneous disposal of a usable battery, and contribute to the protection of resources by making a part of the facing of the battery removable. SOLUTION: A sticker-like removable facing sticker part 1 is provided oh a part of the facing of a battery 2 such as manganese battery, alkaline battery or the like. When the voltage is reduced, and the battery is spent, the sticker part on a part of the facing is peeled to store or dispose the battery as a spent battery. According to such a method, problems in disposal can be solved by clearly showing that the battery 2 is spent.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To investigate an air pollution state due to an artificial exhaust gas by a radio active carbon density measurement in a plant even at a site where an air pollution substance measuring instrument cannot be installed. SOLUTION: A radio action carbon density in a plant is constant anywhere on the earth unless a special reason has been given. However, a gas exhaust by combustion of a fossil fuel does not include ratio active carbon; therefore, the radio active carbon density in the plant grown in an area containing much exhaust gas of the fossil fuel decreases with an increase in a quantity of exhaust gas. Hence, by measuring the radio active carbon density in the plant, the air pollution degree due to the an artificial exhaust gas in that bleeding area can be determined.
