Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for predicting hepatocellular carcinoma development from liver cirrhosis is provided to ensure accurate and early diagnosis and prediction of hepatocellular carcinoma. CONSTITUTION: A method for predicting hepatocellular carcinoma development from liver cirrhosis comprises: a step of measuring the amount of HBV DNA in a biological sample to obtain serial correlation by Student's t-test, Chi-square test, multiple logistic regression analysis, or Mann-Whitney U test; and a step of determining development risk in case that the amount of HBV DNA is over 10^4 copies/ml. The biological sample is a tissue, cells, blood, serum, plasma, or urine.
