CONSTITUTION: A Medicago sativa-derived Mshsp23.3(Medicago sativa Heat shock protein23.3) protein having abiotic stress resistance contains an amino acid sequence of sequence number 2. A gene encoding the Mshsp23.3 protein contains a base sequence of sequence number 1. The abiotic stress is high temperature, salt, or heavy metal. A method for producing a transgenic tobacco plant having abiotic stress resistance comprises: a step of transforming tobacco plant cells with a recombinant vector; and a step of redifferentiating from the tobacco plant cells. A composition for enhancing abiotic stress resistance contains the gene.
