    Abstract: An auto focus searching method of a digital photographing device is provided to minimize image frames referred during focus searching and exactly set a focus location of a lens within a limited time. An auto focus searching method(S100) of a digital photographing device comprises the following steps of: setting outline search locations, and setting a fist outline search location of the outline search locations as a current outline search location(S110); measuring sharpness of an image by moving a lens to the current outline search location(S120); terminating searching if the measured sharpness satisfies a preset first condition and if not so, determining whether the current outline search location is the last outline search location or not(S130,S140); if so, setting a detail search location group including an outline search location corresponding to the maximum sharpness value(S210); respectively measuring sharpness of the image in each detail search location, and recognizing a transition pattern of the measured sharpness value(S220); and terminating the searching if the sharpness value pattern satisfies a preset second condition and the last detail search location is included in the detail search location group(S230,S240).
