Abstract: A method for executing a function according to gesture recognition comprises a step for analyzing a type of a gesture when the gesture is generated and a step for executing the function corresponding to the type of the gesture and displaying the function on a screen. The function corresponding to the type of the gesture comprises at least one control function of an information display controlling function of a terminal and a function executing controlling function of the terminal. The present invention is provided to maximally exclude a physical button of a portable terminal and/or a virtual button displayed on a touch screen and minimize the size of the portable terminal, thereby enabling a user to efficiently use the screen.
