Abstract: PURPOSE: A real time image modeling device and method thereof based on model learning are provided to generate an 3D image by tracing defuse and specular characteristics in a face image without existing 3D face matching process. CONSTITUTION: A light source estimation unit(340) presumes light source information of an input image from the input image. A diffuse estimation unit(350) presumes diffuse reflection variable about each pixel based on neighboring pixel existing probability model stored per each pixel on the extracted light source information and data base. A specular estimation unit(360) estimates a specular map of the input image by using a specular representative map expressing a plurality of face model. An image generating unit(370) uses the estimated light source information, the diffuse reflection variable of the estimated each pixel and the estimated specular map to reconfigure the input image as a 3D image.
