Abstract: An apparatus and a method for canceling interference in a broadband wireless access system are provided to reduce operation complexity significantly by removing the necessity to estimate a channel of an interference signal, and improve reliability of MIMO(Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) detection by performing the MIMO detection by using an interference-cancelled receiving vector and an interference-cancelled channel matrix. A channel estimator(308-1) estimates a channel coefficient vector for each of plural terminals using the same resource. An interference canceller(310) computes a correlation matrix by performing autocorrelation of a signal where the channel coefficient vector of the terminal is subtracted from a receiving signal of each of specific tones present in the same resource. By using the correlation matrix, the interference canceller performs MMSE(Minimum Mean Square Error) based interference cancellation to compute a receiving vector and a channel matrix where the interference is cancelled. An MIMO detector(312) performs MIMO detection by using the receiving vector and the channel matrix in order to estimate a transmission symbol for each of the plural terminals.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for receiving data in a communication system are provided to minimize a noise influence by precisely estimating the noise influence in a communication system having a multiple cell structure to improve a receiving performance of data. An apparatus for receiving data in a communication system includes a measuring unit(303) receives data from a transmitting unit through a transmission region having a plurality of tiles.
