Abstract: PURPOSE: A controlling method of a washing machine is provided to spin-dry laundry by increasing rotational speed and spin-drying time of a drum, thereby removing residual detergent absorbed into the laundry. The drum is rotated at a second rotational speed faster than the first rotational speed, during a shorter time than a time when the drum is rotated at the first rotational speed.

Abstract: A drum washing machine and a method for washing thereof are provided to make washing water be uniformly absorbed into laundry during the water supply so as to improve washing performance, thereby reducing overall washing time. In a method for washing of a drum washing machine, washing water is supplied together or separately from detergent when a washing cycle is started(S310). When the washing water is supplied, a controller controls a motor to increase revolution per minute of rotation tub to a predetermined RPM(S320). The predetermined RPM is determined by experiments and is changed according to a size of the rotation tub. The drum washing machine rotates the rotation tub only in one direction during the water supply. By doing so, the washing water can be rapidly absorbed into the laundry in the rotation tub. After the rotation tub is rotated in one direction and a predetermined time has lapsed, the controller checks whether a water level of a washing tub reaches a target level using a level sensor(S330). If not, additional washing water is supplied(S350). If a water level of a washing tub reaches the target level, a washing cycle is performed according to a washing course inputted by a user(S340).
