Abstract: A write signal setup method of an HDD(Hard Disk Drive) is provided to be capable of determining a write signal parameter and a compensation value in consideration of substantial temperature of the HDD which undergoes a burn-in test process, thus more optimized write current setup is available at substantial operating temperature of the HDD. The first temperature during a burn-in test is measured, and the first parameter which is a parameter of an optimized write signal is obtained at the first temperature through the burn-in test(S11,S12). Based on the first temperature, a compensation value group to be added to the first parameter is determined according to the temperature(S13,S14). The second temperature which is operating temperature of an HDD is measured(S21). A particular compensation value corresponding to the second temperature is searched from the compensation value group, and the searched compensation value is added to the first parameter to obtain the second parameter which is a parameter of an optimized write signal at the second temperature(S22-S24). The first temperature is measured by a cell unit where the HDD is mounted in burn-in test equipment.

Abstract: 본 발명은 하드디스크 드라이브의 기록 파라메터 제어 방법에 관한 것으로서 특히, 헤드의 TPTP (Thermal Pole Tip Protrusion) 특성을 고려하여 weak write 및 over write를 방지하기 위한 기록 파라메터 보정값 산출 방법 및 그에 적합한 프로그램을 기록하는 기록 매체에 관한 것이다.
본 발명에 따른 기록 파라메터 보상값 산출 방법은 하드디스크 드라이브의 기록 동작을 제어하기 위한 기록 파라메터 보정값을 산출하는 방법에 있어서, 헤드에 대하여 최적 기록 파라메터 조건 및 weak write를 유발하는 weak write 기록 파라메터 조건에서의 비트에러율들을 측정하는 과정; 및 상기 비트에러율의 차이에 상응하는 기록 파라메터 보정값을 산출하는 과정을 포함한다.
본 발명에 따른 기록 파라메터 보상값 산출 방법은 기록 동작의 개시 시점으로부터 소정 시간 T1 동안 기록 파라메터를 보정하기 위한 보정값 alpha을 제공함으로써 기록 동작의 초기에 있어서의 weak write 현상을 방지하는 효과를 가진다.
