An apparatus and a method for allocating uplink radio resources in a broadband wireless communication system are provided to allocate uplink radio resources for multi-hop to reduce delay in uplink resource allocation of a relay station for real time traffic and achieve efficient resource management of a base station. In an operation of a relay station to allocate uplink radio resources in a broadband wireless communication system, a resource request message received from a terminal is relayed to a base station(408). Data is received from the terminal(412). When the received data corresponds to non real time traffic, the data is classified by traffics and queued. The queue state is confirmed and the base station is requested to transmit required radio resources(410).

An apparatus and a method for a transmission mode feedback in a communication system are provided to reduce unnecessary occupancy of radio resources and inter-signal interference, and change an MIMO(Multi Input Multi Output) transmission mode effectively and reliably. A terminal receives control information including a feedback channel allocation information and a MIMO mode feedback period from a base station(402). The terminal checks whether a current time is a feedback period of the received MIMO transmission mode(404). If the current time is a feedback period, the terminal selectively determines a MIMO transmission mode of the base station suitable for the terminal(406). The terminal checks a MIMO transmission mode of the data received from the base station(408). The terminal checks whether the MIMO transmission mode selected by the terminal and that of the received data are the same(410). If they are different, the terminal transmits a feedback signal of the selected MIMO transmission mode(412), and increases the number of feedback by 1(414).

A data communication device in a wireless communication system and a method thereof are provided to periodically allocate reverse resources for reverse transmission of a terminal, thereby reducing an amount of control messages broadcasted in a forward way. A resource allocator(300) periodically allocates reverse resources to a predetermined terminal. A control information generator(302) writes a resource allocation message for the terminal by using resource allocation information received from the resource allocator(300), and generates control information including the written resource allocation message to output the generated control information. A transmitter(312) transmits the control information received from the control information generator(302). The control information is map information.

PURPOSE: A method and a device for classifying service characteristics of packet data in a bidirectional communication network are provided to use a classification method of service characteristics to exactly classify service characteristics of the packet data, thereby preventing a data transmission delay. CONSTITUTION: If a current time of a communication network corresponds to a time interval for classifying service characteristics, a main processor measures the number of packet data provided through a forward link during a recent time interval, or N_ForPkts, to check whether the measured N_ForPkts is larger than a threshold of delta-1(301). If so, the main processor measures the number of packet data provided through a reverse link during the recent time interval, or N_RevPkts, to check whether the measured N_RevPkts is larger than the threshold of delta-1(302). If so, a factor-alpha is set as 1(one) and the provided packet data are classified as a symmetric service(303). If the measured N_ForPkts or N_RevPkts is not larger than the threshold of delta-1, the factor-alpha is set as 0(zero) and the provided packet data are classified as an asymmetric service(304).

The base station performs uplink and downlink circuit mode resource allocation with reference to the used slot bitmap information of a corresponding cycle(403). An apparatus for retransmission capable of increasing resource efficiency in wireless communications system and method thereof are provided to reduce a retransmission error by clearly recognizing packet information about a retransmission packet. A method for retransmission capable of increasing resource efficiency in wireless communications system comprises the following steps: a step for transmitting a data to a terminal through a fixed allocation resource in case of assigning the resource to the terminal(103); a step for confirming an error of a data transmitted according to a control message received from the terminal; a step for assigning the resource for retransmitting a data in which error is generated(111); and a step for retransmitting the data and resource allocation information for retransmitting the data to the terminal(113).
