    Abstract: PURPOSE: A location-based service and a method thereof can provide path information and accurately measure the location of a portable terminal inside buildings, building undergrounds, and tunnels. CONSTITUTION: A location-based service system(100) comprises a plurality of access points(110a-110n), a portable terminal(120), and a navigation service server(130). A plurality of access points is installed indoors and transmits Wi-Fi signals including identifying information. The portable terminal receives Wi-Fi signals and forms a first Wi-Fi fingerprint using the received Wi-Fi signals. The navigation service server forms a plurality of Wi-Fi radio maps using a plurality of second Wi-Fi fingerprints. The navigation service server selects the Wi-Fi radio map for presuming the location of the portable terminal among a plurality of Wi-Fi radio maps. The server forms the location information by presuming the location of the portable terminal from the second Wi-Fi fingerprint corresponding to the first Wi-Fi fingerprint based on the Wi-Fi radio map.
