Abstract: A variable optical attenuator with an optical power sensing function is provided to measure and confirm the power of an optical signal simply by connecting an optical power meter and a connector for measuring the optical power. In a variable optical attenuator, an optical incidence connector(32) makes an optical signal enter an attenuator main body(30) and an optical exit connector(34) makes a variable attenuated optical signal exit from the attenuator main body. An optical splitter(36) is installed in front of the optical exit connector and splits the variable attenuated optical signal for measuring and confirming the optical power. A connector for measuring the optical power(38) is installed in the attenuator main body for using the split optical signal by the optical splitter for measuring the optical power. The connector for measuring the optical power is an APC(Angled Physical Contact) connector having a less reflecting effect of the optical signal.
