    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a loop-back Wavelength Division Multiplexing Passive Optical network (WDM-PON). The loop-back WDM-PON includes a coupler, a terminal receiver, and a reflective semiconductor amplifier. The coupler branches a downstream signal, which is transmitted from a central office, into first and second downstream signals. The terminal receiver receives and converts the first downstream signal into electrical signal and provides the electrical signal to a subscriber. The reflective semiconductor optical amplifier flattens modulated optical power of the second downstream signal input to the RSOA and re-modulating the flattened signal by changing driving current in response to upstream data.

    Abstract: A passive optical network system of a wavelength division multiplexing method and a method for processing its signal are provided to drastically increase the transmission speed of the upward signal and the system power margin by installing the encoder and the decoder, respectively. A passive optical network system of a wavelength division multiplexing method includes an optical network device(240) to transmit and receive the upward signal and the downward signal. The optical network device(240) is connected to the central base station through the network. The optical network device(240) is provided with an encoder(244) and a modulator(243). The encoder(244) performs the encoding by adding the extra codes for correcting the error to the electrical upward signal. And, the modulator(243) modulates the upward signal encoded from the encoder(244) to the downward transmitted light from the central base station.
