Abstract: Preparation of a sandwich element containing: (i) 2-20 mm metal, (ii) 10-100 mm compact polyisocyanate-polyaddition product obtained by reaction of (a) isocyanates with (b) compounds reacting with isocyanates optionally in the presence of (c) catalysts and/or (d) adjuvants and/or additives, and (iii) 2-20 mm of metal. A sandwich element is prepared containing: (i) 2-20 mm metal, (ii) 10-100 mm compact polyisocyanate-polyaddition product obtained by reaction of (a) isocyanates with (b) compounds reacting with isocyanates optionally in the presence of (c) catalysts and/or (d) adjuvants and/or additives, and (iii) 2-20 mm of metal. The surfaces of (i) and (III) opposite (ii) are sandblasted before reaction of (a) with (b). Independent claims are included for: (1) A sandwich element obtained as above; (2) a vessel or bridge containing the sandwich element.

Abstract: The invention relates to composite elements with the following layer structure: (i) 2-20mm metal, (ii) 10-100 mm compact polyisocyanate polyaddition products obtained by reacting (a) isocyanates with (b) compounds that are reactive with respect to isocyanates, optionally in the presence of (c) catalysts and/or (d) auxiliary agents and/or additives, (iii) 2-20mm metal, whereby an elasticity module of > 275 MPa exhibits in the temperature range -45 to +50 DEG C an adhesion of > 4 MPa to (i) and (iii), an extension of > 30 % in the temperature range -45 to +50 DEG C; a tensile strength of > 20 MPa and a compressive strength of > 20 MPa.
