Abstract: The present invention relates to the 3-arylquinazolin-4-one compounds of the formula (I) and the salts thereof, formula (I) wherein n is O, 1 or 2; X is O, S or N-R; Y is N or CH; Y is N or C-R; R is C-C-alkyl, C-C-haloalkyl, C-C-alkenyl, C-C-haloalkenyl, C-C-alkynyl, C-C-haloalkynyl, C-C-cycloalkyl, C-C-cycloalkenyl, C-C-cycloalkyl-C-C-alkyl, C-C-cycloalkenyl-C-C-alkyl, where the cycloalkyl radical and the cycloalkenyl radical in the last four mentioned radicals are unsubstituted, partially or fully halogenated and/or carry 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 C-C-alkyl radicals; R is hydrogen, halogen, CN, C(Z)NH, C-C-alkyl or C-C-haloalkyl, wherein Z is O, S or NR; and the variables k, R, R, R, R and R are as defined in the claims. The invention also relates to the use of novel compounds of formula (I) for combating invertebrate pests and to a method for controlling invertebrate pests. The invention also relates to a plant propagation material and to an agricultural composition comprising a 3-arylquinazolin-4-one compound of formula (I).
