Abstract: An apparatus for sealing and severing a web of film. The apparatus includes a first jaw located on one side of the web of film and a second jaw located on a second side of the web of film. The first and second jaws cooperate to grip the web of film. Located within the first jaw is a heater member for sealing and severing the web of film. The heater member is secured so that the time and/or pressure at which the heater member engages the web of film may be varied independent of the first jaw.

Abstract: A flexible polymeric container for holding albumin. The container (12) is made of a sheet of flexible polymeric film (34) formed into a bag having a cavity enclosed by a first wall, an opposing second wall, and seals about a periphery of the first and second walls. The seals join an interior portion of the opposing first and second walls and create a fluid-tight chamber within the cavity of the container for storing a concentration of the albumin. A method of packaging the albumin protein into a flexible polymeric container is also provided. Therein a flexible polymeric material is converted into bags, the bags are filled with a quantity of albumin by a filler (44), and a seal area of the bags is sealed to enclose the albumin within the bag.

Abstract: An in-line web-centering apparatus (12) for centering a web of material in a n aseptic internal area of a form-fill-seal packaging machine. The web-centeri ng apparatus has a support member (40), a tracking assembly (36), and an alignment mechanism (38), each contained within the internal aseptic area of the packaging machine. The support member (40) is internally fixed to the fo rm- fill-seal packaging machine. The tracking assembly (36) is mounted to the support member (40) and pivots about the support member. The pivoting of the tracking assembly (36) positions the tracking assembly at an angle with respect to the support member (40), such that when the alignment mechanism (38) is activated the angle of the tracking assembly is modified, thereby adjusting a flow path of the web of material in the packaging machine.
