    Abstract: A plug for use in a counterbalancing mechanism of a cable-operated door. The plug is used for operatively connecting an overhead shaft to a torsion spring co-axially mounted thereon. The plug includes a cylindrical collar an d a cylindrical flange. The cylindrical collar has opposite first and second portions and is provided with a hooking slot for hooking a free end of the torsion spring thereon, the torsion spring having a segment coaxially mounted about the first portio n of the collar. The cylindrical flange is rigidly affixed to the second portion of t he collar and is used for transferring a torque between the torsion spring and the overhea d shaft when the flange is securely fixed about the overhead shaft. The plug is characterized in that the collar is eccentrically mounted about the overhead shaft, thereby allowing the plug to be used when the radial space between the plug and the overhead shaft is limited and also preventing the overhead shaft from being damaged by the free end of the torsion spring.

    Abstract: The torsion-spring plug comprises a base and a spring-receiving body coaxially projecting from the base. The cable drum has a centrally-opened web and a cylindrical rim. The base of the plug is inserted into a removable locking engagement with the web of the drum for the purpose of forming a combined assembly that is suitable, for instance, in counterbalancing mechanisms. Instead of providing the two parts molded together, the present assembly is modular and versatile since it allows to combine various models and sizes of drums and plugs.

    Abstract: A plug for operatively connecting an extremity of a torsion spring to another corresponding component of a counterbalancing assembly. The plug includes a collar and at least one connecting flange. The collar defines a longitudinal axis, and includes first and second opposite ends, the collar being shaped and sized for removably mounting onto the extremity of the torsion spring. Each connecting flange is provided on the first end of the collar for connecting the plug onto the corresponding component of the counterbalancing assembly. The improvement lies in that the collar has first and second sections, the first section being adjacent to the first end of the collar and having a peripheral surface being provided with threading for threadedly engaging the extremity of the torsion spring, and the second section being adjacent to the second end of the collar and having a peripheral surface being tapered with respect to the peripheral surface of the first section so as to minimize interference with an internal portion of the torsion spring when the collar is removably mounted onto the extremity of the torsion spring.

    Abstract: A winding system for winding a rolling door assembly. The winding system includes a support bracket, first and second gears. The suppart brack et is preferably rigidly connectable to a fixed structure of the rolling door assembly, and has a receiving device and a supporting device. The first gear is pivotally mounted about the receiving device of the support bracket and rotatable thereabout along opposite first and second directions of rotation. The second gear is pivotal ly mounted about the supporting device of the support bracket and rotatable thereabout along opposite first and second directions of rotation. The secon d gear is operatively connected to a corresponding end of the counterbalancing spri ng of the rolling door assembly and is also threadedly engaged with the first gear such that, a rotation of the first gear along one of its first and second directions of rotation causes the second gear to rotate along a corresponding one of its first and second directions of rotation, thereby resulting in a corresponding winding of the counterbalancing spring of the rolling door assembly.

    Abstract: A drive mechanism for use with an overhead shaft of a sectional door for raising and lowering the door via a rotation of the overhead shaft. The driv e mechanism has a support structure, a first gear, a drive shaft, a second gea r, a pocket wheel and an actuator. The second gear is interconnected to the fir st gear so that a rotation of the second gear is transmitted to the first gear and vice versa. The pocket wheel is operable between first and second positions. The second gear is rotatable along a first direction correspondin g to a raising of the sectional door and along an opposite second direction corresponding to a lowering of the sectional door. The actuator is used for rotating the pocket wheel about the drive shaft, operating the pocket wheel between the first and second positions, and driving the second gear along th e first and second directions when the pocket wheel is in the second and first positions respectively. The drive mechanism includes a first ratched assembl y for blocking rotation of the second gear along the second direction when the pocket wheel is in the second position. The drive mechanism may also include a second ratchet assembly for blocking rotation of the second gear along the first direction when the pocket wheel is in the first position.
