Abstract:
An oral care implement comprising a head and a handle is provided. The head comprises first and second faces. The first face includes a plurality of cleaning elements extending therefrom. The second face is located on an opposite side of the head to the first face. The head has a length in a direction along a longitudinal axis of the handle, and a width perpendicular to the length. The head has a proximal section adjacent to the handle and a distal section remote from the handle. The proximal section has a first maximum width and the distal section has a second maximum width, wherein the second maximum width is less than the first maximum width. The second face comprises a tissue cleanser, the tissue cleanser extending over a distal-most edge of the head and forming a ridge located on the distal-most edge of the head.
Abstract:
An oral care implement is provided comprising a head comprising a first face having a plurality of cleaning elements extending therefrom. The head has a length and a width perpendicular to the length. The head has a proximal section adjacent to the handle and a distal section remote from the handle, the proximal section having a first maximum width and the distal section having a second maximum width, wherein the second maximum width is less than the first maximum width. The distal and proximal sections are located adjacent to one another and are joined at a waist section that has a third maximum width which is less than the second maximum width. At least one bristle tuft having a distal end remote from the first face is provided that comprises bristles of varying lengths so as to form a cup-shaped recess at the distal end of the bristle tuft.
Abstract:
An oral care implement having a multi-colored interface. In one embodiment, the invention can be an oral care implement comprising: a handle; and a head comprising: a pre-formed cleaning element assembly having a head plate and a plurality of tooth cleaning elements mounted to the head plate, the head plate formed of a material having a first color; a support body having a socket, the support body formed of a material having a second color; a multi-colored interface formed between a perimeter of the socket and a perimeter of the head plate; and the head plate fused to the support body along at least a portion of the multi-colored interface.
Abstract:
A blister package (10) and method for manufacturing the blister package include an upper wall member (14) (e.g., front panel), a lower wall member (16) (e.g., backer) and a printing (20) (e.g., print, decoration, advertising), where the upper wall member is formed to effectively hold an article (12) (e.g., toothbrush, razor) preferably by accommodating specific geometry of the article. The lower wall member is preferably formed (e.g., molded, thermoformed) after printing from a flat sheet of material (e.g., plastic) to resemble a cylindrical or cone based final shape linearly along or parallel to the lower wall member's longitudinal axis (46). The printing is applied to the flat sheet of material without distortion and appears on the final shaped lower wall member without the appearance of distortion.
Abstract:
A toothbrush (100) having an arrangement of cleaning elements (130) for improved oral care and dentifrice retention. In one aspect, the invention is a toothbrush comprising a first set (140) of cleaning elements forming a loop that extends from the distal periphery of the head to the proximal periphery of the head. The loop has the shape of a racetrack and comprises a first par- elliptical wall (141) of cleaning elements at the distal periphery of the head and a second par- elliptical wall of cleaning elements located at the proximal periphery of the head. The par elliptical walls are connected first and second arcuate rows (142, 143) of cleaning elements. In one embodiment, the first and second arcuate rows are symmetrically arranged about the longitudinal axis so that peripheral convex surfaces of the first and second arcuate rows face the longitudinal axis.
Abstract:
An oral care system comprising an oral care implement, such as a toothbrush, and dispenser containing a fluid detachably coupled to the toothbrush. The invention is an oral care system comprising: a toothbrush having a cavity; a dispenser comprising a reservoir containing a fluid; a cap detachably coupled to the dispenser; wherein when the cap is coupled to the dispenser, the cap prohibits the dispenser from being inserted into the cavity; and wherein when the cap is detached from the dispenser, the dispenser can be inserted into the cavity and detachably coupled to the toothbrush.
Abstract:
An oral care implement having a multi-component handle, and method of manufacturing the same. The invention can be an oral care implement having a handle which comprises at least four components constructed of different materials. The invention may also be an oral care implement having a handle comprising a core structure constructed of a first rigid material and an elongated handle body constructed of a second rigid material, the core structure disposed within a through slot of the elongated handle body; and a grip cover constructed of a resilient material that covers a front surface, a rear surface and a proximal end surface of the elongated handle body. The grip cover may be used to conceal through-holes in the elongated handle body that result from supporting the core structure during the injection molding of the elongated handle body about the core structure.
Abstract:
An oral care implement has a head and a first tooth cleaning element. The first tooth cleaning element has a generally convex end surface such that dentifrice applied to the head is adapted to be directed towards a distal cleaning surface of the head. The oral care implement can also include a gum massaging element extending from a peripheral side of the head.
Abstract:
An oral care implement is provided having a head frame and a cleaning elements assembly attached thereto with tooth cleaning elements extending from one or more carriers. One or more central carriers can be suspended via a flexible bridge between a pair of support carriers attached to the head frame. The bridge may be formed from an elastomer and permit the one or more central carriers to move from an initial position toward the head frame during use. The bridge may include rigid supports and flexible elastomeric supports. The carriers and the bridge can be formed as a unitary assembly attached to the head frame, such as via mechanical connections. The mechanical connections could include snap-fit connections.
Abstract:
An oral care implement with a soft tissue cleanser is provided to effectively cleanse the soft tissue of the mouth with comfort and a reduced risk of injury to the user. In one construction, a projection is formed of a combination of a hard material and a soft material. The hard material provides good stability for cleaning debris from the tongue or other tissue while the soft material provides comfort and a reduced risk of injury.
