Abstract: Ion exchangeable glasses having coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) at least about 90×10−7° C.−1. The glasses undergo rapid ion exchange, for example, in a molten KNO3 salt bath to a depth of layer of greater than 30 microns in less than 2 hours at temperatures of 370° C. to 390° C. When ion-exchanged to a depth of layer between 30 to 50 microns, the glasses exhibit a Vickers median/radial crack initiation threshold exceeding 30 kilograms force (kgf). The glasses are fusion formable and, in some embodiments, compatible with zircon.

Abstract: Embodiments of this disclosure pertain to glass articles that comprise a maximum CS magnitude (CSmax) of about 900 MPa or greater, a CS magnitude of 750 MPa or greater at a depth of about 5 micrometers, and a maximum CT magnitude (CTmax) disposed at a depth from the first major surface in a range from about 0.25 t to about 0.75 t. Embodiments of a curved glass article are also disclosed. In one or more embodiments, such curved glass articles include the first major concave surface comprising a maximum radius of curvature of about 100 mm or greater and a first maximum CS value (CSmax1) of greater than about 800 MPa, a second major convex surface comprising a second maximum CS value (CSmax2), wherein the CSmax2 is less than CSmax1. Embodiments of an automotive interior system including such curved glass articles and methods of making glass articles are also disclosed.

Abstract: An article comprising an ion-exchanged glass material that prevents sharp contact flaws from entering a central region of the material that is under central tension and thus causing failure of the material. The glass material may be a glass or glass ceramic having a surface layer under compression. In some embodiments, the depth of the compressive layer is greater than about 75 μm. The greater depth of layer prevents flaws from penetrating the compressive layer to the region under tension.

The glass composition has the following relationships −8.00 mol %≤R2O+RO−Al2O3−B2O3−P2O5≤−1.75 mol %, 9.00≤(SiO2+Al2O3+Li2O)/Na2O, and (Li2O+Al2O3+P2O5)/(Na2O+B2O3)≤3.50. The glass composition may be used in a glass article or a consumer electronic product.

Abstract: A strengthened photochromic glass sheet or article as well as processes and systems for making the strengthened photochromic glass sheet or article is provided. The process comprises heating the photochromic glass sheet to a desired temperature in a short time period without distortion to the photochromic glass sheet. The process also comprises in cooling the photochromic glass sheet by non-contact thermal conduction for sufficiently long to fix a surface compression and central tension of the sheet. The process results in thermally strengthened photochromic glass sheets.

The display includes a cold-bent glass substrate with a thickness of 1.5 mm or less and a first radius of curvature of 20 mm or greater, and a display module and/or touch panel attached to the glass substrate having a second radius of curvature that is within 10% of the first radius of curvature. Abstract: An alkali aluminosilicate glass that can be chemically strengthened and formed into a three dimensional shape. The glass has a softening point of less than about 825° C. and a high temperature coefficient of thermal expansion of less than about 30 parts per million (ppm)/° C. The glass may be ion exchanged after the three dimensional shape is formed. When ion exchanged, the glass has a surface layer that is under a compressive stress of at least about 700 MPa.
