This separation device also serves as insulation to prevent interdischarge of the electrodes.

Abstract: A bipolar electrode for discharging sparks of piezo- electric origin has two poles 4, 5, which are less than one centimetre apart in order to prevent the sensation of a double discharge and in order to give improved stimulation. A separating element 7 is fitted between the poles and extends a few tenths of a millimetre in front of the poles in order to distance these from the skin. The separating element also serves to prevent flashover between the poles. With discharging from the bipolar electrode, pains and tensions in both humans and animals are alleviated.
