    Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and or receiving analogue signals varying within a large signal range in for instance a radio communication system. A receiver ( 300 ) includes an un-attenuated signal receiver branch ( 303 ) with a first dynamic range and at least one attenuated signal receiver branch ( 304 ) with a second dynamic range. The attenuated signal receiver branch ( 304 ) is arranged in such a way that the second dynamic range is partly overlapping the first dynamic range and together with the first dynamic range cover the large signal range of the analogue signals. The attenuated signal receiver branch ( 304 ) includes an attenuator ( 306 ) which attenuate the amplitude of an input signal by a certain value to acquire the desired overlapping second dynamic range. The signal receiver branches are connected to a third block 308 which selects between sampled bursts from the respective signal receiver branch for further processing in the receiver.

    Abstract: A base station arrangement for forming an OFDM signal from a baseband signal includes a partitioning unit configured to partition a block of baseband signal samples into sub-blocks. A subcarrier mapper (26) maps the sub-blocks onto adjacent sub-carrier blocks of art OFDM multi-carrier to form corresponding un-prefixed OFDM symbols. A cyclic prefix adder (24) adds a cyclic prefix to each mapped sub-block to form prefixed OFDM symbols. Phase compensators (30) perform phase compensations forcing the un-prefixed OFDM symbol part of all subsequently up-converted prefixed OFDM symbols to start at the same phase. Up-converters (34,36) up-convert the phase compensated prefixed OFDM symbols to respective radio frequency bands having center frequencies and bandwidths that preserve the OFDM multi-carrier structure. A combiner (14) combines the up-converted phase compensated prefixed OFDM symbols into an OFDM signal.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to an architectural model of a radio network unit, e.g. a Radio Base Station, that separates functionality in such a way that it is possible to easily adapt the unit to various requirements and conditions. The radio network unit comprises an internal RBS-interface that subdivides the its functionality into a first part, which solely relates to the functionality of the radio network, and a second part, which solely relates to the radio part, i.e. the airborne part of the transmission. The internal interface comprises at least a link that handles the necessary additional communication that arises due to the subdivision and a link that handles the user data that is to be processed, i.e. transmitted or received, by said unit.
