SOLUTION: Formation method of barrier ribs for a display panel is to cut a plurality of ditches 4 on the principal plane of the substrate 1 with sandblast method to form barrier ribs 5 consisting of remained projections 5b between these ditches 4, and it is so constituted as to finish at least the bottom face of inner faces of each ditch above to let close to a smooth plane. The barrier rib structure of the display panel is provided with a plurality of ditches 4 on the principal plane of the substrate 1 and barrier ribs 5 composed of remained projections 5b between these ditches 4, equipped with electrodes on the bottom face of each ditch 4, and at least the bottom face of inner faces of each ditch 4 above has prescribed surface roughness.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the cracks in a dielectric layer and deformation of a barrier rib and to reduce cost with improved yield by forming the dielectric layers for covering plural electrodes, and barrier ribs arranged between the respective electrodes for partitioning the adjacent electrodes from one another into band-like forms in parallel with one another, and by composing them with members vitrified by the same heating and baking process. SOLUTION: Since this substrate has a structure wherein electrode covering dielectric layers 3 of data electrodes 2 arranged at a predetermined interval on the surface of a back substrate 1 opposite to a front substrate are separated from barrier ribs 4 for partitioning the adjacent electrodes 2 from one another at their center, stresses generated by constriction differences at a simultaneous heating and baking time do not affect one another. Therefore, defects are reduced, and the number of processes and power consumption are reduced. Each of the dielectric layers may be formed with the electrode covering dielectric layer 3 having a large thickness and a second dielectric layer having a small thickness for connecting it to the barrier ribs 4, and even if a crack is produced at simultaneous heating and baking, it concentrates on a thin contact part or the like. It is recommended that the dielectric layers are formed by a recessed plate transfer method by the use of a molding die having first and second recessed slots corresponding to the electrode covering dielectric layers 3 and the barrier ribs 4.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a barrier into the predetermined shape by forming a substrate for display panel with a barrier material layer having flexibility, which can be engraved by tool, and engraving the barrier material with a mold having the predetermined shape, and heating it. SOLUTION: A glass paste, which is obtained by mixing a low melting point glass powder, a resin binder, a high boiling point solvent and a low boiling point solvent, is used so as to perform the screen printing to the barrier material. Or, the glass paste is previously formed into a soft film-like green sheet, and this green sheet is cut at an appropriate size, and laminated on a substrate 1 for display panel. A barrier forming layer 6 is formed by pushing a mold cylinder 3 at a constant pressure from over the partitioning wall material layer 2, and while rolling it in the arrow F direction. The barrier forming layer 6 and the substrate 1 are dried together so as to eliminate the solvent, and heating is performed so as to burn the resin binder, and the low melting point glass powder is melted so as to obtain an integrally solidified barrier. The number of grooves 5 on a circumferential surface of a mold cylinder 3 is set in response to the size of the display panel.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the transferring accuracy at the time of forming a barrier with transferring method by forming a barrier forming surface of a substrate with a viscous layer, which is formed of a low melting point glass paste layer and which has viscosity, and increasing the adhesive force of the barrier forming surface of the substrate with the adhesive force of the barrier material in relation to the inner wall surface of a recessed part. SOLUTION: A master mold 1 of silicon rubber, which has recessed parts of a pattern corresponding to stripe barriers previously arranged with the desirable space, is formed. Barrier materials 2 are embedded in the recessed parts of the master mold 1 by printing or the like, and temporarily baked by a heating means 3 such as a heater so as to harden the barrier material 2. A viscous layer 4, which is formed of the thermosetting resin or the optical setting resin, is laminated on the substrate 5, and the substrate 5, on which the viscous layer 4 is laminated, and the master mold 1 are stuck on each other so as to transfer the barrier material 2 onto the substrate 5. The barrier material 2 and the viscous layer 4 are hardened by heating or radiation of light, and the barrier material 2 is separated from the master mold 1. The barrier material 2 is thereby accurately transferred onto the substrate 5.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To absorb the elongation of a dry film due to the swelling so as to prevent the generation of meandering and peeling, and to widen the range of degree of margin of development by forming a photosensitive dry film with plural narrow and long patterns, and providing plural fine recessed parts of slits crossing the longitudinal direction of each pattern. SOLUTION: A photosensitive dry film is stuck on a flat surface film 51 of glass plate so as to form a resist film. The dry film is irradiated with the ultraviolet rays through an exposing negative film so as to be sensitized a part, which is not coated with the negative mask. Unsensitized part of the dry film is eliminated so as to form a dry film pattern formed of a sensitized hardening part 52a. The hardening part 52a after developing is formed with a chain-like pattern, which is provided with slits 57. Width of the slit 57 of a bottom surface side of the hardening part 52a is formed as same as the width of the slit of the negative mask, but since a top surface side of the hardening part 52a is exposed with the developing liquid for a long time, it is swelled, and elongated in the longitudinal direction of U-direction, and the slit 57 is formed at a width S.
