Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron tube capable of giving a stable operation efficiently. SOLUTION: This electron tube is formed to have an airtight vessel 1 containing a field emitter 11 made of diamond or mainly composed of diamond, as well as an anode where electrons emitted from the field emitter 11 are incident under the application of positive voltage thereto, and hydrogen 12 is sealed into the airtight vessel 1. According to this construction, the surface of the field emitter 11 is always terminated with the hydrogen 12 and, therefore, electron affinity is negatively maintained on the terminated surface of the field emitter 11. Thus, the electron tube equipped with the field emitter 11 is capable of giving a stable operation efficiently over a long term.
