Abstract: 1277711 Transport apparatus INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 7 Jan 1971 [29 Jan 1970] 756/71 Heading G5R In an arrangement for loading a web or tape 19 into two buffer chambers 13, 14 arranged on either side of an intermediate capstan 16, the chambers are interconnected by tubes 30 in order to hold the tape against the wall of each chamber. If the web assumes the full-line position in the vacuum arrangement shown then it is drawn against the wall of chamber 14 by the vacuum beneath the web in chamber 13, and the web is then preferentially drawn into chamber 13 and into transducing relationship with a head 31. The embodiment of Fig. 2 (not shown) incorporates a slot (40) in the common wall 15, and a pivoted door (42), and that of Fig. 3 (not shown) a single communicating hole (44).
