Abstract: The present invention provides a computerized method for determining an addressee of a signaling request within a Workflow Management System or a computer system with comparable functionality (WFMS). Upon receiving a signaling request, which is providing a set of signal data elements, the current invention avoids the requirement that the signal data elements comprise any explicit specification of an addressee of said signaling request. To determine whether an event-activity of a process-instance being the instance of a process-model of a business-process is the potential addressee of the signaling request it is suggested to determine, whether the process-model comprises an event-identification-specification. This event-identification-specification according to the current invention is involving a subset of the signal data elements. Evaluating the event-identification-specification allows to indirectly decide if the event-activity is the addressee of the signaling request.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a technique for controlling the creation of process instances within an execution environment such as a Workflow Management System. Upon receiving a request to create a process instance and corresponding input data to be processed by the process instance, a process instance identifier is first constructed for the process instance to be created based on the provided input. Next, the create request is executed, but only if no process instance exists or existed with the same process instance identifier. In the case where a process instance already exists or existed with the same process instance identifier, the present invention permits a user-defined action to be carried out to avoid an identifier conflict.

Abstract: The request dispatch optimization method uses a process model for distribution of the task execution requests between a local work management system for supervising the job execution and a number of remote work management systems for supervising execution of different tasks. Optimization data for the dispatch of the tasks is determined via analytical and/or discrete simulation means and inserted in an overall optimization function, with corresponding new configuration of the remote work management systems. Also included are Independent claims for the following (a) a workflow management system; (b) a task sequence optimization tool; (c) a user exit for a work management system; (d) a stored program for an optimization method for a work management system

Abstract: The workflow management system (WFMS) includes a WFMS server which carries out navigation via a process model and makes a decision, selecting a subsequent process activity to be carried out by the WFMS, and selects a WFMS agent to carry out the activity. The data processing system includes a buffer manager which stores the resources required for carrying out the next process activity in a WMFS buffer location. The WFMS agent uses the resources from the buffer location to perform the next process activity. A method of buffering resources is also claimed.

Abstract: An immediate calculation device is used to evaluate the probability of a first logical expression, in immediate response to a defined probability of an incoming control connector that is part of the first logical expression. The process to start the target activity is only continued if the first logical expression is evaluated as true. A means of defining a start condition of a process model of a workflow management system is also claimed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to messaging systems in general and message broker systems in specific. More particularly, the invention relates to means and a method for processing message publication requests and message subscription requests. The current invention transforms the subscription problem into a database query problem allowing to use query techniques known and optimized for many years. The basic approach of the current invention is to invert the relationship of message publication requests (treated as database data) and message subscription requests (treated as database queries) according the state of the art. Thus the core of the current invention is to treat incoming messages publication requests as database queries and to treat message subscription requests as database queries.

Abstract: The workflow process model defines a process activity which is selected and carried out by computer. One or more input containers and/or one or more output containers are associated with the process activity. The process model is connected with an environment for reusable parts in which the input and output containers are implemented as reusable parts. In an input container allocation step, an input container re-use part is associated with the model, which implements the input container and resides in the environment for reusable parts. The allocation is stored as an input container allocation specification in the process model. In an output container allocation step, an output container re-use part is associated with the model, which implements the output container and resides in the environment for reusable parts. This step also involves storing the allocation as an output container allocation specification in the process model.
