Abstract: Systems and technologies described herein provide functionality for a cellular base station to dynamically indicate a reception (Rx) beam to be used by a user equipment (UE). The Rx beam can be indicated explicitly or implicitly. Abstract: Systems and methods use multiple spatial layers for physical multicast channel transmission. Certain embodiments introduce additional multimedia broadcast multicast service reference signals that support more than one antenna ports for multicast broadcast single frequency network transmissions. To reduce channel estimation complexity due to the multicast broadcast single frequency network reference signal design, resource elements of the multicast broadcast single frequency network reference signals may have a nested structure. To assist modulation and coding scheme selection, a user according to certain embodiments also independently reports block error rate measurements for each spatial layer of the multicast channel.

Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to improved channel quality information feedback techniques. In one embodiment, for example, an evolved node B (eNB) may comprise a processor circuit, a communication component for execution by the processor circuit to receive a channel quality index for a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), the channel quality index associated with a defined reference resource, and a selection component for execution by the processor circuit to select a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) for transmission over the PDSCH of user equipment (UE) data in one or more resource blocks, the selection component to compensate for a difference between a cell-specific reference signal (CRS) overhead of the defined reference resource and a CRS overhead of the one or more resource blocks when selecting the MCS. Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) operable to report periodic channel state information (CSI) is disclosed. The UE can determine a reporting period (Npd) of the UE for a serving cell. The UE can identify a Time-Division Duplex (TDD) uplink-downlink (UL-DL) configuration of a primary cell of the UE. The UE can transmit a periodic CSI report for the serving cell to an evolved node B (eNB) using a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) on the primary cell according to the reporting period. The UE can use the reporting period of Npd=1 for the serving cell if the TDD UL-DL configuration of the primary cell is one of 0, 1, 3, 4, or 6 and all UL subframes of the primary cell in a radio frame are used for periodic CSI reporting.

Abstract: Technology for reporting periodic channel state information (CSI) is disclosed. One method can include determining a reporting period (Npd) of a user equipment (UE) for a serving cell. Abstract: Embodiments herein describe apparatuses, systems, and methods for signaling to support downlink coordinated multipoint (CoMP) communications with a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication network. In embodiments, the UE may be configured with a plurality of channel state information (CSI) processes (e.g., via radio resource control (RRC) signaling) to use for providing CSI feedback to an evolved Node B (eNB) to support downlink CoMP communications. The UE may be configured with a plurality of sets of CSI processes. The UE may further receive a downlink control information (DCI) message from the eNB that indicates one of the configured sets of CSI processes on which the UE is to provide CSI feedback to the UE. The UE may generate the CSI feedback for the indicated set of CSI processes, and transmit the CSI feedback to the eNB in a CSI report.

Abstract: Examples include techniques for using a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) for downlink transmissions. In some examples information elements (IEs) for either a physical multicast channel (PMCH) or a physical multicast control channel (PMCCH) include information to indicate an MCS for downlink transmission over a PMCH or PMCCH between an evolved Node B (eNB) and user equipment (UE). For these examples, the information in the IEs include indications of whether higher order modulation for quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) have or have not been enabled. Both the UE and the eNB may operate in compliance with one or more 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Long Term Evolution (LTE) standards.
