    Abstract: Embodiments of a mobile device and methods automatically connecting to a Wi-Fi Hotspot 2.0 are generally described herein. In some embodiments, subscription information for one or more service providers (SP) that operate Wi-Fi networks is stored in a subscription data object of the mobile device. The subscription information includes home service provider information, policy information and pre-provisioned credentials. The mobile device may be configured to determine, without user interaction, if the subscription information is applicable to an available Wi-Fi network and perform without user interaction, an extensible authentication protocol (EAP) based authentication using the pre-provisioned credentials with the available Wi-Fi network to establish a Wi-Fi connection with the available Wi-Fi network. This automatic connectivity may allow a mobile device to roam across Wi-Fi hotspots of Wi-Fi networks and offload traffic to Wi-Fi networks.

    Abstract: A mobile device may select between multiple networks in order to offload network traffic from one network to another. Policies under which network selection happens are established by network operators. A hierarchy of policy servers are established where a central policy server with policies established by a network operator can delegate authority for network switching to a local policy server with policies established by the same or a different network operator. The central policy server can establish criteria under which network switching or network selection is delegated to a local server. Policies from the local policy server can include information about local network conditions. A mobile device can use the policies from the central server and local server to select a network.

    Abstract: For example, a wireless communication station (STA) may be configured to set flow-group Quality of Service (QoS) information corresponding to a Medium Access Control (MAC) Service Data Unit (MSDU) in a traffic flow belonging to a flow group including a plurality of traffic flows. For example, the flow-group QoS information corresponding to the MSDU may include a flow identifier (ID) to identify the traffic flow, a flow group ID to identify the flow group, and MSDU set information corresponding to an MSDU set including the MSDU. For example, the STA may be configured to transmit a Physical Layer (PHY) Protocol Data Unit (PPDU) including the MSDU, wherein the PPDU includes the flow-group QoS information corresponding to the MSDU.
