Abstract: A reflecting device includes a patch electrode, a common electrode, a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the patch electrode and the common electrode, and a metal film arranged on the opposite side of the common electrode from the side of the liquid crystal layer, wherein the metal film is spaced apart from the common electrode, and the patch electrode is arranged to overlap the metal film. X can be the value obtained by multiplying a distance T between the common electrode and the metal film by the wavelength λ of the radio wave irradiated to the patch electrode, and x can be equal to or greater than 0.02 and less than or equal to 0.34. X can be equal to or greater than 0.10 and less than or equal to 0.22.

Abstract: A reflecting device in an embodiment according to the present invention includes common electrodes arranged in a matrix at a distance in a first direction and a second direction intersecting the first direction, bias electrodes arranged overlapping the common electrodes in a planar view, a liquid crystal layer between the common electrodes and the bias electrodes, and common wirings connecting adjacent common electrodes among the common electrodes. Each of the common wirings has a length of half an effective wavelength λg when a radio wave of a specific wavelength λ propagates through the liquid crystal layer.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a method of driving a phased array antenna, includes applying voltages to phase control electrodes in a first period such that radio waves to be emitted from antennas are in a same phase in a first emission direction, and applying the voltages to the phase control electrodes in a second period such that the radio waves to be emitted from the antennas are held in the same phase in the first emission direction. Abstract: There is provided a liquid crystal display device that reduces viewing angle color mixture on a high definition screen. In the liquid crystal display device, a pixel electrode is formed on a region surrounded by scanning lines and picture signal lines. The scanning line is insulated from the picture signal line by a first insulating film. An organic insulating film is formed to cover the picture signal line. The organic insulating film is not formed below the pixel electrode. A common electrode is formed to cover the organic insulating film and the first insulating film. A second insulating film is formed to cover the common electrode. The pixel electrode is formed on the second insulating film. On the organic insulating film, a metal light shielding film is formed as extending in a second direction. The metal light shielding film is in contact with the common electrode.
