Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the binder compsn. for a curing mold used in a molding method for self-curing and gas-curing molds and the process for production of a casting sand mold by using this compsn. CONSTITUTION:This binder compsn. for production of the ester-curing mold is formed by incorporating a water-soluble phenolic resin which is produced by effecting reaction in an acidic region by using a bivalent metallic ion catalyst in a stage for condensing phenols and aldehyde and effecting the reaction with an alkaline catalyst in an alkaline region in the stage before the above- mentioned stage and/or the stage thereafter into this compsn. and is incorporated further with a tervalent higher metallic compd. during the reaction into the compsn. The strength of th casting mold formed from a seclained sand is greatly improved by using the above-mentioned binder compsn. in the process for production of the sand mold for casting for molding a refractory granular material.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high strength mold by constituting the binder composition for organic ester curing type molding sand of the mixed material of water soluble phenol resin and the specific polyvinyl phenol kind. CONSTITUTION:In the binder composition for molding sand using the water soluble phenol resin as the binder and cured with the organic ester, one or more kinds of polyvinyl phenol kinds shown in the formula 1 are used together with the water soluble phenol resin. In the formula 1, X is methyl group or hydrogen or combination of two or more kinds of these, R1 is hydrogen or 1C-10C aliphatic group and aeromatic group hydro-carbon radical, R2 is combined radical induced from compound having vinyl radical, and m+n is integer of 5-100 and (m) is integer excluding zero. The high strength mold is obtd. and in this result, consumption of the binder can be reduced.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high strength mold by constituting the binder composition for organic ester curing type molding sand of the mixed material of water soluble phenol resin water solution and the specific quantity of novolak type phenol resin. CONSTITUTION:In the binder composition for molding sand using the water soluble phenol resin as the binder and cured with the organic ester, one or more kinds of the novolak type phenol resins are added at 5-40wt.% per the solid part in the water soluble phenol resin. The novolak type phenol resin is dissolved in the water solution or dissolved in solvent in advance, and this is added to the molding sand. The high strength mold is obtd. and as a result, consumption of the binder can be reduced.
