Abstract: Aparato de frenado (1) para un ascensor, el cual comprende: - un aparato (3) de frenado dinámico, para frenar una máquina eléctrica (4) con frenado dinámico, - una entrada para una señal de control (5, 7) del aparato de frenado, - un controlador (8) para controlar el aparato (3) de frenado dinámico como una respuesta a la señal de control (5, 7) antes mencionada del aparato de frenado, en donde el controlador (8) comprende los modos de control (10, 11, 12, 13) para controlar el aparato (3) de frenado dinámico de acuerdo con el modo de control a utilizar en cualquier momento dado, caracterizado por que - el controlador (8) se dispone para activar el aparato (3) de frenado dinámico después de un retardo de activación ajustado (15) de frenado dinámico tras recibir una señal de parada de emergencia (7), y - por que un freno de maquinaria (2) se dispone para ser activado después de un determinado retardo de activación (16) del frenado de maquinaria tras recibir la señal de parada de emergencia (7), en donde el retardo de activación (15) del frenado dinámico se ajusta para ser más largo que el retardo de activación (16) del frenado de maquinaria.
