The apparatus serves to apply a plastic strip to a rectangular glass pane so that the strip extends peripherally along all edges of the pane. The apparatus comprises conveying means for conveying the glass panes, which conveying means comprise a horizontal conveyor for supporting and conveying the glass panes standing on their lower edge, backing means, which extend above the horizontal conveyor and are adapted to laterally support the glass panes standing on the horizontal conveyor in a predetermined plane of conveyance, which is slightly inclined from the vertical toward said backing means, pressure-applying means, which are slightly spaced above the horizontal conveyor and serve to force the plastic strip against a moving glass pane, a strip feeder, which is operable to move in synchronism with the horizontal conveyor at the same speed as the latter to feed the plastic strip to the pressure-applying means, a turning mechanism, which when the horizontal conveyor is at a standstill is adapted to turn each glass pane through 90.degree. opposite to the normal direction of travel of the horizontal conveyor, strip-guiding means for cooperating with the pressure-applying device, and severing means for severing the plastic strip.

A press for pressing assemblies or panels of multiple flat sheets or discs of insulating glass, has at least two pairs of upper and lower press members between which the panels are conveyed, and switches are disposed in the path of the panels to cause timed operation of the press members to sequentially press the leading, side and trailing edges of the panels as they pass between the upper and lower press members. Sensors are arranged in the path of the panels to detect the width of the panels and adjust the pressure exerted by the press members to prevent damage to narrow panels.

The invention relates to a frame-shaped spacer for insulating glass panes, which is formed by bending a hollow profile rod (1) or hollow profile rods which are connected in a linear manner, comprising an outer wall (2), two flanks (3,4) and an inner wall (5). Said spacer has at least one corner (31-34) whereon the hollow profile rod (1) is provided with a recess which starts from the inner wall (5) and extends into the flanks (3, 4) in the direction of the outer wall (2), without opening said outer wall (2). According to the invention, an angle piece (13). which is placed in the hollow profile rod (1), is arranged on at least one corner (31-34) of the spacer and comprises two limbs (14, 15) which are connected by a joint (16) and which are blocked in relation to each other in a position, wherein a predetermined angle is formed.

The invention relates to an insulating glass panes, in which two separate glass panes (45, 46) are held at a distance from one another by a frame-shaped spacer which is formed from a hollow profile rod (1) or hollow profile rod which are connected in a linear manner. Said spacer comprises an outer (2), two flanks (3,4) and an inner wall (5), with at least one corner (31-34) whereon the hollow profile rod (1) has a recess which starts from the inner wall (5) and extends into the flanks (3,4) in the direction of the outer wall (2) without opening the outer wall (2). The horizontal conveyor (2) has two parallel and synchronously drivable conveying elements (7,8), supporting surfaces (10,11), which are aligned substantially vertical to the pane movement plane (16). The distance of one of the conveying elements (7,8) from the other conveying elements (8,7) is variable. The conveying elements (7,8) are movable independently of one another transverse to the pane movement plane (16).

The invention describes a machine for filling the edge joint of insulating glass panes with a semi-liquid to paste-like sealing compound, consisting of a main constituent and a secondary constituent, which are different in chemical terms and in terms of their viscosity, having two pumps (3, 6) which convey the two constituents from two reservoirs (1, 2) into separate intermediate storage chambers (5, 8), and having separate, synchronously driven volumetric feed metering pumps (14, 19) for conveying the constituents in a predetermined composition to a mixer (16) and then on to a nozzle (17), the nozzle and the mixer belonging to one sub-assembly which is movably mounted as a whole on a frame of the machine. According to the invention, there is provided a gear pump (14), driven by a servomotor, as metering pump for the main constituent in combination with a piston pump (19), which serves as a metering pump for the secondary constituent and whose piston (10) is driven by a second servomotor (23), both of which preferably are part of the movable sub-assembly.
