    Abstract: A method of controlling a washing machine includes spraying water into a drum through a direct water nozzle, rotating the drum at a spin-dry rinse speed, draining water from a tub while rotating the drum at the spin-dry rinse speed, supplying water to the tub to increase a water level in the tub, circulating water in the tub to spray circulated water into the drum through a circulation nozzle, rotating the drum at a laundry adherence speed lower than the spin-dry rinse speed, and in a state in which draining water from the tub and spraying the circulated water are stopped and at least a portion of the drum is disposed below the water level in the tub, accelerating the drum from the laundry adherence speed to a first tub cleaning speed.

    Abstract: A washing machine includes: a casing, a tub, a drum, a cylindrical gasket connecting an input port of the casing to an opening of the tub, a pump configured to circulate water discharged from the tub; a guide pipe fixed to the gasket configured to guide water supplied from the pump, and nozzles configured to spray water from the guide pipe into the drum. The nozzles include an upper nozzle configured to spray water downward, intermediate nozzles disposed below the upper nozzle in both left and right sides and configured to spray water downward while spraying water deeper into the drum than the upper nozzle, and lower nozzles disposed above the inflow port, disposed below the intermediate nozzles in both left and right sides based on the inflow port and configured to spray water upward.

    Abstract: A method of controlling a washing machine. The washing machine includes a tub configured to receive water, a drum rotatably disposed in the tub, a volute pump including (i) an impeller configured to rotate in one or more directions to pump water discharged from the tub and (ii) a pump housing that defines a volute-shaped passage configured to guide water pumped by the impeller, and a circulating water supply device configured to supply water discharged from an outlet port of the volute pump into the drum. The method includes: supplying water and detergent into the tub; and rotating the impeller of the volute pump in a first direction to discharge a first amount of water from the volute pump, the first amount of water being less than a second amount of water discharged from the volute pump based on the impeller being rotated in a second direction.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a washing machine configured to rotate a cylindrical drum formed by processing a metal sheet about a horizontal axis. The drum includes a lifter, formed by processing the metal sheet, respectively provided at a plurality of points spaced along a circumferential direction, when viewed from a front side. The lifter includes a front lifter which is formed by protruding the metal sheet into the drum, and pressurized to be extended in a longitudinal direction of the drum, and a rear lifter disposed in a rear side of the front lifter. The rear lifter is disposed to form a certain phase angle with respect to the front lifter.
