    Abstract: A method for determining objects of interest using a vehicular vision system includes providing at least one camera and providing a control having an image processor that processes image data captured by the camera. An object present in the field of view of the camera is detected via processing at the control of a first frame of captured image data. Hypotheses filtering and hypotheses merging may be utilized when processing additional frames of captured image data to discern the detected object being an object of interest from the detected object being not an object of interest. Hypotheses filtering includes tracking the detected object over multiple additional frames of captured image data, and hypotheses merging includes comparing outputs of hypotheses filtering for the multiple additional frames of captured image data. The detected object may be determined to be an object of interest responsive to results of hypotheses merging.

    Abstract: A method for stitching image data captured by multiple vehicular cameras includes equipping a vehicle with a vehicular vision system having a control and a plurality of cameras disposed at the vehicle so as to have respective fields of view exterior the vehicle. Image data captured by first and second cameras of the plurality of cameras is processed to detect and track an object present in and moving within an overlapping portion of the fields of view of the first and second cameras. Image data captured by the first and second cameras is stitched, via processing provided captured image data, to form stitched images. Stitching of captured image data is adjusted responsive to determination of a difference between a feature of a detected and tracked object as captured by the first camera and the feature of the detected and tracked object as captured by the second camera.

    Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a camera disposed at a body portion of a vehicle and having a field of view exterior of the vehicle. The camera has an imager and a fisheye lens with more distortion at side regions of the field of view than at a center region of the field of view. An electronic control unit (ECU), via image processing of captured image data, determines gradient information and determines edges of intensity gradients present at a side region of the field of view of the camera. The system, based at least in part on determined edges of intensity gradients, determines a potential cross traffic object at the side region and determines movement of upper and lower portions of a determined edge of an intensity gradient of the cross traffic object to determine if the cross traffic object is moving into a path of the vehicle.

    Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and operable to capture multiple frames of image data during a driving maneuver of the vehicle. A control includes an image processor that processes frames of captured image data to determine feature points in an image frame when the vehicle is operated within a first range of steering angles, and to determine motion trajectories of those feature points in subsequent image frames for the respective range of steering angles. The control determines a horizon line based on the determined motion trajectories. Responsive to determination that the determined horizon line is non-parallel to the horizontal axis of the image plane, at least one of pitch, roll or yaw of the camera is adjusted. Image data captured by the camera is processed at the control for object detection.

    Abstract: A vision system for a vehicle includes a camera configured to be disposed at a vehicle so as to have a field of view exterior of the vehicle. A processor is operable to process image data captured by the camera. The vision system determines conditions where processing of captured image data degrades in performance due to environmental conditions. The vision system, responsive to a determined condition, determines a safe state for image processing of captured image data for that determined condition. A failsafe algorithm, responsive to processing of image data captured by the camera and responsive to the determined condition, and in accordance with the determined safe state for that determined condition, determines true negatives and avoids false positives and false negatives.

    Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and viewing exterior of the vehicle. A control has an image processor for processing frames of image data captured by the camera. The control receives vehicle motion data indicative of motion of the vehicle when the vehicle is moving. When the vehicle is moving, the control, responsive at least in part to image processing of multiple frames of captured image data, detects an object present exterior of the vehicle. The control, responsive at least in part to the received vehicle motion data and image processing of multiple frames of captured image data, determines motion of the detected object relative to the moving vehicle by (i) determining corresponding object points in at least two frames of captured image data and (ii) estimating object motion trajectory of the detected object based at least in part on the determined corresponding object points.

    Abstract: A method of detecting a trailer angle of a trailer being towed by a vehicle includes capturing frames of image data via a camera of the vehicle while the vehicle is towing a trailer, and, via processing by an image processor of frames of captured image data while the vehicle is towing the trailer, determining presence of the trailer being towed by the vehicle, and determining feature vectors of the trailer being towed by the vehicle. The feature vectors of the trailer are determined by determining features that have similar angular changes between a current frame of captured image data and a previous frame of captured image data. The angle of the trailer relative to the vehicle is determined responsive to tracking of determined feature vectors of the trailer present in the field of view of the camera over multiple frames of captured image data.

    Abstract: A method for detecting a vehicle via a vehicular vision system includes equipping a vehicle with a camera and providing a control at the equipped vehicle. Frames of image data captured by the camera are processed via an image processor of the control. Responsive at least in part to (i) vehicle motion information of the equipped vehicle and (ii) processing at the control of frames of image data captured by the camera, an object present in the field of view of the camera is detected and motion of the detected vehicle relative to the moving equipped vehicle is determined. The motion of the detected object relative to the moving equipped vehicle is determined by (i) determining corresponding feature points of the detected object in at least two frames of captured image data and (ii) estimating object motion trajectory of the detected object based on the determined corresponding feature points.

Stitching of captured image data is adjusted responsive to determination of a difference between a characteristic of a feature of a detected object as captured by the first camera and the characteristic of the feature of the detected object as captured by the second camera in order to mitigate misalignment of stitched images.

    Abstract: A vehicle vision system includes a plurality of cameras disposed at a vehicle and having respective fields of view exterior of the vehicle. An image processor is operable, responsive to image processing of captured image data, to synthesize captured image data to generate a reduced distortion bird's-eye view image of a region exterior and near the vehicle and encompassed by the fields of view of the cameras. A display displays the bird's-eye view image for viewing by a driver of the vehicle. The image processor processes synthesized captured image data using a lane marker sensing algorithm that utilizes recursive temporal stabilization to determine lane markings in the field of view of at least the rear camera. The system determines when the vehicle is departing from its being-traveled lane and, responsive to determination that the vehicle is departing from its being-traveled lane, generates an alert to the driver of the vehicle.
