A continuous piezoelectric film can include a plurality of fibers, each fiber including a polypeptide, wherein molecules of the polypeptide have electric dipole moments that are aligned such that the piezoelectric fiber provides a piezoelectric effect. The continuous piezoelectric film has at least one piezoelectric constant d31 or d33 that is at least 1 pC/N. The continuous piezoelectric film can be prepared hot pressing a mat of aligned piezoelectric fibers.
Abstract:
Piezoelectric compositions are provided wherein mechanical and piezoelectric properties can be separately modulated. Preferred compositions include resin blends that comprise: (a) a piezoelectrically active polymer and (b) a matrix polymer, methods of making, and use of such resin blends. Advantages of preferred resin blends of the invention can include high piezoelectricity, mechanical strength and flexibility, convenient fabrication process, and high sensitivity at high temperatures.

An extended attribute-based pricing system and method that enables users to build sellable objects based on selected products and extended attributes for those products. Product administrators are enabled to define sellable products and extended attributes for the products, while pricing administrators are enabled to define price lists for the sellable products and extended attributes. Sales representatives build sellable objects, such as quotes, orders, shopping carts, etc, by adding products that customers would like to purchase to the sellable object. Additionally, extended attributes may be selected for all or a portion of the products. The extended attributes may be stored in attribute classes, and may be loaded into memory structures to reduce database accesses.

Abstract:
The clutch of a beach buggy. The clutch is provided with a friction enduring resilient annular member closely positioned between an actuating member and the outer cover of the clutch. Thus, when the engine of a beach buggy is started, the actuating member will be driven to rotate and the outer cover will be activated to rotate slowly by the pressing frictional force produced by the resilient annular member and the actuating member. At the same, a shift gear connected to the outer cover will also rotate slowly, improving the engagement between one of the transmission gears and the shifting gear before accelerating and accordingly preventing a beach buggy from rushing abruptly.

Drip irrigation devices (10, 40, 90) to facilitate the flushing of the irrigation system are provided. The devices (10, 40, 90) include an upper body portion (12, 42, 96) having an intake passageway (24, 55, 106) and opening (56, 104), and a lower body portion (16, 46, 98) having a discharge passageway (29, 66, 106') and opening (76, 104). A floating or stationary disk (14, 44, 114) is positioned between the upper and lower body portions. During the flush cycle, the disk (14, 44, 114) oscillates with great energy to loosen debris and flushes particles and debris out of the irrigation lines. During the irrigation cycle, the disk provides pressure-compensated regulation of water flow to permit drops of water or solution to form.
Abstract:
The dripper and mini-spray include an inlet and an outlet coupled to a housing which defines a substantially spherical, ellipsoidal, or cylindrical chamber. The chamber houses a ball which can roll about the chamber freely, but which is too large to exit through either the inlet or outlet. A whirlpool is caused by water or other liquids entering the chamber through the inlet due to the particular orientation and position of the inlet and the shape of the chamber. The whirlpool flushes debris from the chamber and pushes the ball around the chamber for a predetermined period of time. The ball then rests against the outlet to substantially obstruct the passageway out in a pressure-compensated manner.
