    Abstract: A valve arrangement for reciprocating machine, where the arrangement (1) comprises an in-valve (18) and an out-valve (19), each valve (18), (19) bein g a springloaded one-way valve designed to open for flow when the pressure differential in the direction of flow provides a force that exceeds the spri ng tension, wherein the valves (18, 19) are mounted in a casing (8) that forms or is connected to the cylinder head of the reciprocating engine (2). The in- valve (18) and the out-valve (19) are mounted in a sleeve (16) designed to b e fitted in a bore (9) in the casing (8), and where fluid may flow to the slee ve (16) from an inlet (11) in the casing (8) and into the sleeve (16) via the i n- valve (18), and where the sleeve (16) is provided with at least one perforat ed area where fluid may flow radially out of or into the sleeve (16) via holes (50, 51), thereby flowing to or from a passage (14, 15) that forms a perpendicular or near perpendicular connection with the bore (9).

    Abstract: A method of determining a leakage in a piston machine comprising at least two pistons is provided. The rotational velocity of the piston machine, and therefore the volume flow through the piston machine, is varied periodically as part of a time-limited active test while measuring the differential pressure and the angular position. An angular position-based Fourier analysis of the measured values from differential pressure and rotational velocity measurements performed during the test are used to experimentally determine the amplitude ratio and phase angle difference between volume flow variations and pressure variations. The amplitude ratio and phase angle difference are used, together with an angular position-based Fourier analysis of the measurements of differential pressure and rotational speed made after the active test, to determine the amplitude and phase of the leakage flow.

    Abstract: A piston engine in the form of a piston pump or a piston engine (motor) comprises two or more piston cylinders ( 14 b, 14 c), preferably positioned with the same angular distances of 180 degrees for two cylinders, 120 degrees for three cylinders etc. with regards to an axis, and each comprising a reciprocating piston with a projecting piston rod ( 18 b, 18 c). Via the piston rods ( 18 b, 18 c), each piston is given a controlled displacement matched to the controlled, given displacement of another or other pistons. The control means is rotatable and influences the projecting outer end portions of the piston rods or parts fitted to these, for instance rotatable rollers ( 20 b, 20 c). By a piston pump of this type, the pistons are to contribute to impelling a fluid flow, while a piston engine of this type shall be designed to be driven by a fluid flow. Operating conditions are aimed at which give a more even volume flow, i.e. without any significant fluctuations. For this purpose, said rotatable control means is designed with an encircling cam surface ( 52 ) which the piston rod ends abut via the peripheral surface of said rotatable rollers ( 20 b, 20 c). According to a feature of a method associated with the application of such a piston engine, each piston may with advantage be driven at a constant speed through part of its power stroke.
