    Abstract: In an antenna, a first flat radiating element is placed longitudinally. A second flat radiating element is located opposite to the first flat radiating element. The first and the second radiating element are connected to each other at their lower end portions. A third flat radiating element is longitudinally located below the second flat radiating element. A central conductor of a coaxial cable is connected to the lower end portions of the first and the second flat radiating elements. An outer conductor of the coaxial cable is connected to an upper end portion of the third flat radiating element. The coaxial cable is located parallel to the third flat radiating element.

That is, the spiral conductors serving as radiation elements are disposed at the outside and inside of the cylindrical dielectric member, and the outer and inner conductors are operated as independent helical antennas. These spiral conductors are connected to the power supply circuits for supplying the high-frequency power having desired amplitude and phase.

    Abstract: A small-size wide-band antenna (103) includes a radiation element formed on a dielectric substrate (1) and a coaxial cable (2) as power supply unit for supplying dipole potential to the radiating element. The radiation element includes a ground potential unit to which ground potential is supplied via an external conductor (4) of the coaxial cable and an opposite-pole potential unit to which a potential forming a pair with the ground potential is supplied via a center conductor (3) of the coaxial cable. The ground potential unit includes a pair of conductors (13,14) formed in a tapered shape on the front and rear surfaces of the dielectric substrate and mutually capacitively coupled. The opposite-pole potential unit includes a pair of conductors (31,32) formed in a tapered shape on the front and rear surfaces of the dielectric substrate and mutually capacitively coupled. Each of the ground potential unit and opposite-pole potential unit has a power supply point at a tapered apex of the conductor (13,31). The small-size wide-band antenna (103) further includes a stub conductor (17) as an impedance matching unit for matching the impedance between the radiation element and power supply unit.
