Abstract:
In accordance with an example embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus, a computer program product and a method is provided for device and/or user identification. The example embodiment comprises receiving, at an apparatus, a wireless signal comprising at least one of an address or an indication identifying a wireless communication device initiating the wireless signal, transmitting a query to a remote network entity, the query including at least one of the received address or indication identifying the wireless communication device and an indication associated with identity of the apparatus, and receiving a response to the query including information relating to identity of the wireless communication device if an association exists between the apparatus and the wireless communication device.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided to facilitate the interaction of a mobile terminal and an RFID communications circuit carried by or otherwise associated with the mobile terminal such that the RFID communications circuit facilitates the provision of the additional functionality following the manufacture and deployment of the mobile terminal. In the context of a method, power may be caused to be provided to an RFID communications circuit carried by a mobile terminal following activation of the RFID communications circuit. The method also receives information from the RFID communications circuit and causes an operation to be performed with a processor based upon the information received from the RFID communications circuit.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for controlling smart objects with a collage user interface using normalized user interface descriptors. A method is provided for receiving user interface description data from a plurality of utility devices. The user interface description data includes access and control data associated with the respective utility device. The method also includes generating a collaged user interface based on the user interface description data; receiving a signal associated with a first user interface description data associating the first user interface description data with a second user interface description data; and causing the collaged user interface to be displayed on a user equipment user interface.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided for providing adaptive user notifications. A method may include detecting an event. The method may further include determining usage of one or more connected apparatuses. The method may also include determining, based on the determined usage, a notification method for notifying of the event. The method may additionally include generating an event notification message based on the determined notification method. The method may further include causing the event notification message to be sent to a connected apparatus to trigger the connected apparatus to provide an alert indicative of the event in accordance with the determined notification method. Corresponding apparatuses are also provided.
Abstract:
The invention relates to methods, apparatuses, systems and computer program products for discovery of nearby devices (510, 520, 525, 540, 545). To facilitate discovery of nearby, i.e. proximal, devices, a discovery control signal (570, 572, 574, 576, 578) from a control device (530) may be used to control the discovery, e.g. how or when the discovery is carried out. The devices may send status information of their status to be used by the control device or the control system for forming the discovery control signal. The control device, e.g. a server, may form the discovery control signal based on this status information. Discovery of proximal devices may then be carried out based on the received discovery control signal.
Abstract:
Method, apparatus, and computer program product example embodiments enable devices to initiate a communication connection. In an example embodiment, a method includes receiving one or more device detection messages at an apparatus; transmitting, by the apparatus, one or more response messages including information usable for a wireless device receiving the one or more response messages to estimate a distance to the apparatus; and receiving, at the apparatus, a reverse response message including an information message from the wireless device, containing information usable for estimating a distance between the apparatus and the wireless device.
