Abstract: A shuttered adapter is described that includes a shuttered housing (120) a shutter sub assembly frame (160) contained within the housing a pair of shutter doors (150 151) hingedly secured to the shutter sub assembly frame and a door spring (170) configured to push the shutter doors outward from the shutter sub assembly frame and away from each other. In addition a shuttered adapter is described that includes a housing and a spring like shutter attached to the front of the center wall of the housing. The shutter has a pair a door flaps extending into the ports of the adapter at a rearward angle.

Abstract: A tunable fiber optic connector (20) is disclosed. The connector (20) includes a ferrule assembly comprising a ferrule (24) and a ferrule holder (26) for receiving the ferrule (24) therein. The ferrule holder (26) has a plurality of splines (96) on the periphery of a front surface thereof, and a spring bears against a rear surface of the ferrule holder and applies a forward biasing force to the ferrule assembly. The connector (20) also includes a housing (22) having a central bore (38) extending therethrough in which the ferrule assembly is located. The housing (22) has at least one tuning arm (42) within the bore (38) for engaging the ferrule assembly, and the tuning arm (42) allows the ferrule assembly to be tuned inside the housing (22) without disengaging the ferrule assembly from the tuning arm (42). A method of assembling a tunable fiber optic connector is also disclosed.

Abstract: A tuning tool (20) for tuning a fiber optic connector is disclosed. The tuning tool (20) includes an outer housing (22), a first plug tuning disk (24), an inner housing (28) received within the outer housing (22), a second plug tuning disk (30) received within the inner housing (28), and a split sleeve (26). The first and second plug tuning disks (24, 30) each have an adapter (52, 58) extending therefrom, and the split sleeve (26) is receivable within the first and second adapters for receiving a first ferrule (56) and a second ferrule (60), respectively. A method of tuning a fiber optic connector is also disclosed.
